Albert is 4 for 4 tonight, 2 homers off of Bumgarner, now at 692.

He also passed Musial on the Total Bases list, is now 2nd, only trailing Aaron.

Comes off the bench in the 8th, hits #695 to break up a scoreless tie...

I'm thinking that Marmol will give him more playing time down the stretch, especially if the division is in their grasp. With today's win coupled with Milwaukee's loss the lead is 8.5 with 28 to play...he is hitting around .385 vs lefties...

I imagine his last game he'll get some BP fastballs as a gift. Heck, they may let him have an inside the parker if he doesn't get it over the fence.

#696 in Pittsburgh tonight, ties it at 3, and ties him with ARod for 4th all-time...

I mostly don't want to care, but kinda can't help enjoy his last hurrah.

He's seeing the ball pretty good, and he could be a postseason weapon...

Sadly, I have no trust in the legitimacy of MLB anymore. Read into that what you will.

I say this as a Pujols fan, it's a shame he let himself go, physically. His career number would have been even more bonkers if he'd laid off the Twinkies. He was The Machine in his hey-day.

He's 42, still has pretty good bat speed. Yeah he's not fast, never was. He's heavier than when he broke in, 22 yrs ago. He's still a decent fielding 1b...

I'm a huge Pujols fan. Though 700 would be nice, I'm just glad he passed A-Rod. When you can tell someone that only "Bonds", "Aaron" and "Ruth" are ahead of you, that makes you really sit up and take notice. When you throw A-Rod into the mix, it loses some of the luster. Just my opinion...

Second place on the Total Bases list is pretty special too, trailing only Aaron.

He's not just hanging on...lately he has really been turning on some nasty pitches, a few fastballs up out of the zone that most guys can't hit. As guys like Edmonds are pointing out, the guy can still flat out hit.

We will see what you look like when you hit your 40s. Metabolism slows down and belly fat happens....especially if you have bad feet and cannot run.

Totally agree Doc. Had a debate in another forum with someone who tried to say that Trout was the best hitter of this generation. Trout is probably the BEST player overall but is NOT the best hitter and most of the stats prove it.
