1981 Jubilee Progressive - FULL Topic

Jubilee Progressive

The Jubilee progressive is based on the concept that every 7 years, in times gone by, slaves were freed, debts forgiven and property restored. That final point is the concept the Jubilee Revisited Progressive League (JRPL) is based. League owners have the player rights to their chosen franchise returned to them every seven seasons. During the six seasons between, via rookie draft and trades, owners try to improve their franchise beyond what their MLB counterparts were able to field and best that MLB Won/Loss Percentage. That is a personally satisfying (or discouraging) unique challenge to the league. The other challenge is much more traditional....make the playoffs, win the World Series.

We only need 2 teams to fill out our league, and you can take any of the choices below. We're finishing up the 1980 season, and heading into 1981, which is a jubilee season. This means you would start with the real-life opening day roster for your team, minus anyone who didn't play enough to get a WIS season. The rosters below are what you would start with. If there are more than 25 on your roster, you would have to drop enough players to get you down to exactly 25. If you start with fewer than 25, you will take part in a brief "dispersal draft" made up of the players dropped by other teams. This will take you up to 25 players.

For the next 6 seasons, you would get to draft, trade, and otherwise improve upon that roster, much like in most other progressives. The draft order is based upon your franchise's real-life finish instead of how your team performs in the progressive league, so there is no benefit in tanking.

Let me know if you’re interested, and please ask questions if something isn’t clear!

What about rookies ?
Are they included in the rosters you posted ?
Do you get first rights to them in future drafts ?

I will take Houston. Thank you.

If a rookie started midseason, they would be included on your roster, too, assuming they played at least 50 PA or 25 IP.
There are no special rights to any future players - the next six seasons will be an open draft.

You've got your choice of any of the above franchises - take their 1981 roster and, over the next six seasons, turn them into something great!
