Are you going to reveal who the other coaches are so we know who were impacted by their cheating? Why does Swenske and, I assume, the other coaches that cheated still appear on their teams? Shouldn't they be removed?

i think what CS was saying is, these users have had their access removed. so i am guessing CS is still figuring out what to do to get all the accounts removed from teams gracefully or whatever it is they are doing. i think they are still working on it.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your patience with this matter and allowing us time to review the situation that we were recently made aware of. We have found multiple users were using the recruiting exploit and they no longer have site access. We have not yet closed the loophole within recruiting so at this time will not disclose what happened but the devs are working on a solution that will be pushed live in the coming days and when that does a forum post will go out letting the community know of the impacts of the changes that are being made.

thanks for the update and all the work i am sure is going on behind the scenes to address the issue!

I am finding it very difficult to believe what I have just read. I am happy to see that CS is addressing the loophole and has taken action against the users. I absolutely despise stealing and cheating. I can't understand why anyone believes it's ok to do either (ok, so maybe someone is legitimately starving to death and steals some food, I'm not talking about these type of scenarios). I couldn't ever enjoy the game and any success unless I earned it...just me. I've had a few minutes to reflect and I keep coming back to the same thought - Oh, I sure hope I don't find out any of the legends or people I have learned the game from and respect so much are involved in this!

Benis, thank you for this as I have to believe this was impacting many, many other owners directly and indirectly!!

Eager to see the full list surface once users start getting removed (if indeed that is the ultimate result). I've never noticed such funny business in Iba, but I wouldn't be surprised if I missed it.

Man, this comment. That would me crazy to see 20x champion so and so, show up on the cheaters list! That would be heartbreaking!

But I don’t really expect that to happen. People that care about the game so much that they want to mentor, I don’t see how they could actually mentor and cheat. Without tipping off their dirty little secret. But I guess we never know!

i do know that someone mentioned Virginia in Rupp being vacant now? I believe that was my boy rajunrhino’s former team. And he was talking to me recently about dropping teams. No reason to get on here and play he said she said, but he is 100% definitely not involved in anything like this. And again, I only mentioned it because someone else here brought up that team. I can vouch for him, he’s not a suspect.

Great job CS. Fast response. As much as we riot, we love to see the right thing done. Appreciate your efforts more than you know. (I find it kinda funny that this thread is where CS stepped in to discuss it. But it’s fitting!)

It definitely would be heartbreaking. For me, when I started, there was no posted mentor list and I was too intimidated to reach out to others for tips. So, I spent a lot of time studying box scores from users that were very successful that may not have all the titles but helped me learn the game (and not even be aware). Plus, I’ve developed respect for many others that are really good at the game but don’t have titles to show for it. As you know, it’s not easy to win titles. Anyway, I’m hoping none of those people are involved!

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I came up in a similar way, looking at boxscores and recruiting from great coaches like qb4usf and theonlyis, and many others, trying to sort out why they kicked my butt. Along the way I've built up great rivalries/relationships/respect with so many coaches along the way. It will be a bummer if they are out after this. But this is 100% the right move in my view.

Not sure it's really a "witch hunt" when one guy has been ID'ed by HD Admin and we've been told others are involved, and no other humans have been named.

I mean, this is like in Goodfellas when Jimmy Conway held up Lufthansa, and Carbone bought his girlfriend a mink coat and another guy (Swenske) bought a pink Cadillac.

i'm glad the site staff acted quickly. i didn't expect much and am happy to be pleasantly surprised. honestly, i was out of here forever if they were going to let it slide. the recruiting frustrations had me close already.

I think a lot of us have done something similar. I used to study the box scores of oldresorter and lostmyth2 back in the day to learn my zone strategy (even though neither played zone.) I don't even know they knew they were mentoring me. I was eventually able to become excellent at zone and mentor myself so I could pass on what I knew in the same way to others...some contacted me and others I probably didn't know were looking at my roster and box scores.

It's one of the best assets in the HD community, how we keep that experience moving through the generations of coaches willingly so that it never dies and gets built upon. It's a great community to be a part of.

didn't mean it like that, just a dumb halloween reference. also, i think someone said it earlier with some sarcasm (the witch hunt).

i am very glad CS is taking this seriously, that is just as important to me as it is to you. i view anti-cheating efforts as more of a marathon than a sprint, but that doesn't mean it is any less important to me. if anything, more.
