The Final Curtain Topic

I just entered a team named The Final Curtain (of this I'm certain) in MLB 135852.

I am tired of managing teams that mostly win but fall short in the end: 17 years, 786 seasons, 67589 wins (.537), 45 championships.

Great owners such as dougpalm have figured out things about this game that elude me and I find it's harder to win then it once was.

I've been diagnosed as having Parkinson's, but I may yet live to see another Cardinals championship (and maybe even a return to sanity in our political life). I'll be 81 in 6 weeks. I'm a retired newspaper editor and professor, and am writing a family history and editing a friend's book. I'm wonderfully well married, and hoping for as much good time as I can find. I lived through the careers of Musial, Gibson, Pujols, Ozzie and the others, and am still rooting. (I'd love to witness a long career for Jordan Walker, but I sure can't count on that.)

I'd love to reach an owner rating of 100,000 but have been stuck around 97,500 for months, so que sera sera.

It's been fun. Vaya con dios.

Happy Trails, Sir...

As Shoeless Joe said to Doc Graham, "Hey rookie, you were good."

It's been a pleasure, I've enjoyed competing with you along the way. As a Cubs fan, I hope you don't witness another Cardinals championship, but otherwise, all the best!

Funnily enough, I've been hovering around an owner rating of -97,500 for awhile... not that I'm trying to reach -100,000, just more out of a curiosity.

Sad to see you leave, DT...enjoyed playing in leagues with you. I wish you happiness in your pursuits .

Sorry that you are moving on. Always thought of you as one of the top competitors. Good luck.

While I'm sad to see you leave DT, I'm happy you have a plan going forward. You've been formidable competition for as long as I can remember and wish you and yours nothing but the best.

DT we have only been in a couple of leagues but hate to see the site lose a quality owner. A few positives for you to take with you.
- WIS will still be here should you change your mind.
- Your health and family matters most....not which park in WIS to use.
- Keep rooting for the Cards. I think until someone shows Mo the door, we are destined to just participate. Got Goldie/Nolan for a few more years, that is NOT enough to Win.
- Politics are off the charts. Can someone just report the facts and let us decide for ourselves? Every cable channel is editorial spin and local news broadcasts are a waste of time. Most whether D or R cannot even articulate WHY they are for/against something.
- Our kids are growing up thinking the answer to everything is on TikTok or Google as the schools and teachers unions are focused on too much other irrelevant crap vs. Math, Science, English and Civics (the laws/legal processes)

Good Luck.

You were here long enough to know there is always a trend. It was superman, then great range, etc. Whatever someone has figured out will be topped by someone else...that is what makes this fun.

All the best DT... you will be missed!

One of the first names I recognized and "looked" up to back about 20 years ago. I don't chat here often, sad to lose another person. Glad you've been apart of this.

Good luck to you sir. Sorry to hear we lose another good owner.

I always pronounce your user name "troubleduck" in my head.

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Your soul is the most important part of yourself. As wonderful as the Cardinals are, I hope your mind will focus on God above all.

I'm right there with you doubletruck. Time to take a break from this site. Best of luck!
