Let's use this forum to sound off about our bad luck, underperforming players and general gripes. With 22 leagues and 528 teams, there should be plenty of material.

With having 31 teams, my goal is simply to go 16-15 (or better) every session. Sadly, a 13-18 performance for game 1.

We went 6-5 in 1-run games which we'll take every time. My two early 1920's Babe Ruth teams went 0-2 (outscored 17-6) and my four stud Babe Ruths (1920 & 21 and 1921 & 23) combined to go 2-for-15 with no HRs and 1 RBI. Hilariously, my 1903-21 Yankees team was up 6-2 through 6 innings and lost 14-6. That will be a recurring theme, I'm sure.

Ironically, my 1894-99 Orioles hitting machine won 14-5 as legendary pitcher Doc McJames outpitched Silver King (King allowed 9 run on 13 hits in 6 innings).

In league 7, my 1930-70 A's scored the fourth most runs in the entire league but had no chance, losing 19-10 to a 34-39 Yankees. My team's ace, '31 Lefty Grove got punished for 12 runs in 3 innings. Going be ugly considering he's the my best SP on that team.

Much better showing in session #2. A couple of my early team selections have started off terribly.

Second choice in league #18, my 1990-03 Red Sox have started 0-2, getting outscored 17-6. What's notable though is '91 Clemens (15 HRs in 272 real life IPs) giving up 3 HRs in 6 IPs in game 1. Extrapolated, that works out to 136 HRs allowed in 272 innings... Not ideal.

First choice in league #3, my 1903-21 Yankees drop to 0-2. What's really disappointing is the top two SPs (Chesbro & R.Ford) have given up 22 hits and 12 runs in 12.2 innings. The rest of the staff sucks, but I figured I'd at least win games started by those two guys. Those two pitchers + Babe Ruth is the main reason I grabbed this team. At least the two Ruths combined to go 2-for-5 with 3 walks (still no HRs).

Nine of my 31 teams are 2-0 and only five are 0-2, so I can't complain too much.

OK - it only took game #3 before one of my teams gave up 6 runs in the 9th to lose by 1 run. With all the offense in these leagues, 6 runs certainly won't be the biggest 9th inning comeback of the year. Feel free to post your bad losses here.

Why did I sign up for this? :) I can’t even process what is happening across my teams and I have half as many as schwarze!

Over in League 11, my 52-80 Phils are off to an unexciting start. Got clobbered by 4 homers from the Willy Mays's, and my Mike Schmidt is 0-14 with 7 K's to start the year. Luckily Stan Lopota of all people managed 4 RBI's to salvage a game in the first series.

This is nothing. Wait until juice announces the theme for round 2, and it takes you months to research all the possible combinations as you prepare to draft your 15+ advancing teams.

13 teams... 22-17 start after 3 games.

Had one series where the combines score was 44-34. 1899 era in Baker Bowl.

also drinking from the firehose here. 31 active teams. juice lg tourney, 2nd round of WISC, all my existing progressive leagues and a live draft I'm commishing. I have enough credits to not pay full price, but that's $300 to play a make believe baseball baseball game.

Game #3 Report
Bad news... Half of my losses (3-6) were by 1 run (and most were blown games late).
Good news... I was 16-6 in games not decided by 1 run. Will take a 19-12 session every time.

Ok let's play best clone/worst clone.

Best - 1915 & 1916 Pete Alexander - $36.5M combined salary
Worst - 1992 & 1993 Rod Beck - $6.8M combined salary

Best & Worst is different than Most Expensive & Least Expensive

Going to be hard to beat 1921 & 1923 Ruth ($52.2 million combined) as the most expensive pair of clones.

I didn't use any RPs as clones, so I won't get close to the lowest salary clones.

But, I can challenge others as having the least impactful clone.

1954 Al Rosen's real life stats: .300/.404/.506 (is platooning at 1B) - on my 1953-94 Indians team
1990 John Tudor's real life stats: 147 innings, 1.03 whip, .225 oav (spot starter and long reliever) - on my 1985-02 Cardinals team
11/10/2022 7:56 PM
Game 1 - my teams start out 13-8
Game 2 - 11-10 - I will take it
Game 3 - 6-15 - uh oh

I have two teams at 0 - 3
The 1889-1905 Giants which is an unpleasant surprise because I envisioned 05’ Mathewson and 04 McGinnity would hold sway with the impressive lineup. My third pitcher, Dummy Taylor, is not terrible either.
Somehow Mathewson will not be at full strength for game 4 so Amos Rusie gets a chance

it does not surprise me that my other 0-3 team are the 1952-1958 Yankees. After the Mantle clones there’s not much else going on.

Incidentally I recently watched the seventh game of the 1952 World Series on You Tube. What was fascinating was how the managers, Casey Stengel and Chuck Dressen, would go crazy during the game yelling out instructions. At one point Stengel went completely wild and either Red Barber or Mel Allen said calmly “that’s Casey giving instructions to Yogi Berra”
It’s so different from how managers conduct themselves these days.
