Coaching Reduction when taking over a new team Topic

I had a question on the coaching reduction given when you take over a new team. I have a recruit the previous coach worked a full 20 visits on. I kept the interest at the max 60, but with the reduction, this recruit now has me at low and I can't visit them anymore. Is this normal behavior?

Yup. And unfortunately, there’s not much you can do about it. You can offer promises and hope that gets you back in range. But it’s not likely. You’ll likely miss out on the recruit entirely. New coach reduction is strong

agreed, this is expected, you lose about 2/3rds of effort that was done the day you walk in. this means that if a guy just has AP, you are probably fine, because you can still do the visits, and he'll already be unlocked. but players with significant visits, you are generally dead in the water (unless nobody else is interested, which would be a rather weird combo), because those visits are already 'consumed' (as in, you can't replace them with full-effort visits).

The big problem is that so few coaches understand how this works - as with so much in this game, there is little transparency here - so when they plan to leave, they think they’re doing the next coach a favor by loading up on visits, setting them up for success, when really it’s the opposite. It only really works out on anyone of value if no one knows the coach is leaving, and that effort has scared off rivals to the point where anyone who would be interested doesn’t even think to come back.

It’s terrible design, and people were complaining about it at the end of beta, but the product was rushed and it was never fixed.

I had an issue a few months ago where I think the recruit had received 14 Home Visits from the previous coach.
So I was only able to offer 6 Home Visits in the late recruiting cycle
CS reset the visits and I was able to offer the full 20

Wait, what? You just…asked CS and they did it? ??

This was maybe 3 seasons ago.
I asked why I could give no more than 6 home visits after unlocking with a scholarship offer Yet I showed up as Very Low on the consider list, so I knew basically none of the visits by the prior coach were being calculated into the consider list.
CS told me there was no carryover on the visits and they reset all their recruiting actions, which allowed me to offer the full allotment of 20 home visits.

Text from support ticket (6/11/22):

I've unlocked Home Visits and Campus Visits. it's said I already gave a Campus Visit and 14 Home Visits. Which only allows me to offer 6 Home Visits. Obviously this is effort from previous coach. Do I get credit for that effort, or am I just out of luck and can't offer additional visits?

Good afternoon,

I have removed the previous coach visits, so you can continue on recruit.

Hard to believe.

Has there been confirmation from anyone on the WhatIf end that a new coach is supposed to lose the ability to re-recruit a guy?
Or have coaches just seen the results of taking over a new job and just assumed it was designed to work that way?

In the case of the recruit I mentioned, the A prestige D1 school I took had been listed as Very High with the recruit and a C+ program was at moderate.
After the coaching change the C+ school was up to Very High and my new program was at Very Low. Not even unlocked to offer visits.
Going from 14 home visits + 1 campus visit combined with untold AP's and possible promises the previous coach used, dropping down to not being able to offer a visit is a lot bigger drop than the previously mentioned 2/3 loss.

Is it possible a new coach loses all efforts from visits and promises of the previous coach, but still somehow retain a % of AP the previous coach used?

I don’t think it’s that, oldwarrior. But now CS is gonna be bombarded with “I need you to reset this NOW!” from every coach in the game that changes jobs.

it is an opening of Pandora’s box

yeah, this sounds like a problem... new coach reduction was part of the 3.0 design. it sounds like its not working as intended, though. them resetting on request is kind of an advantage for those users, i hope they'll find a better solution!

This definitely isn't the first time I've heard of this happening. I thought there was a thread after the update was released where CS confirmed if you reached out to them in this scenario they'll do exactly what they did for oldwarrior. I can't remember if it was Seble or Adam that confirmed this. And, I think it was johnsensing that brought it up in the forums and CS responded.
