Anyone remember how long players that you drafted will take when they are ‘thinking about it’ before they respond to your first offer? I’d like to have my ‘probably won’t sign’ guy turn down my offer before the rookie season starts so I can actually field a team.
Most of the time, four to seven real life days.

Remind me about the mom as the advisor? Will a prospect sign at all when it says “probably won’t sign” and mom is advisor?
There's about a half a percent chance he will actually sign. But I've seen it happen.

Well, its happening. He asked for $5MM first, which I offered. He declined with the red X. I offered $7.9MM and he declined with a blue x and countered at $8MM. LOL.

Can be a mixed blessing. Would have screwed me over if my kid did that. My 'Wants to be signed in the first 5 rounds' kid was picked 2nd overall and asked for more money. I almost had a heart attack because I thought I might not have it. If my 'probably won't sign.' represented by his mom kid did sign for the $8 million I would have had to have punted on my 2nd overall pick monster prospect.

I've noticed a big change in the old mutual option. I've had several big time player with high patience leave my organization.

Odd because the "help" section clearly says players with team or mutual option will automatically get picked up if you don't decline.

I lost a Cy Young pitcher with a 95 patience rating in a mutual option (he declined the option) after winning the WS. I thought maybe the WS had something to do with it. I then lost a 98 patience All-Star pitcher on a losing team during the off-season to a mutual option as well. I have lost players before when they declined but it only happened when the mutual option year contract was less than the previous seasons. I did that on purpose with older player in order to avoid or reduce the 20% penalty. But this is the first time it has happened to my #1 guys at a young age (both under 30) and it happened within the last week to both in separate worlds under different circumstances. Something changed.

Not exactly...Players can't reject a TEAM option but they absolutely can reject a MUTUAL option. Based on the name of the option alone, each side can choose to pick up or decline. Typically, as pointed out previously, patience was a key element in that decision. I personally haven't noticed a change though.

From the help:

"All players with team or mutual options will have their option automatically picked up if not rejected by the end of the arbitration hearings."

That could be explained better in the help. I can see the confusion.

Any hope for this guy to pick up where he left off and have rating bumps for a good chunk of this season? He is still a very good pitcher, but he was heading to the top of my rotation before elbow surgery took most of the season. I had 20/20 and he recovered most of what he lost but pretty much lost a season worth of development in the process. Player Profile: Brady Edmonds - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

He’s 22 he will get some ratings back and is still technically growing. I can’t see what his ratings were before but he’ll still be a very good pitcher.

I hate being that guy but sometimes calibrating can be good. But having a hard time deciding between two pitchers. 20/20 draft scouting.

Player A:
Stam 83
Dur 30
Con 87
VsL 100
VsR 85
Vel 86
GB 80
P1 85
P2 73
P3 61
P4 51

Player B
Stam 64
Dur 22
Con 99
VsL 96
VsR 97
Vel 22
GB 43
P1 91
P2 81
P3 61
P4 60

My pitching formula tells me that That both will probably top 10 pitcher in the league but Player A is the better pitcher. Still my eyeball test sees all those 90's ratings and second guesses it.

I should note that my formula has helped me identify and target players like Player Profile: Esmerling Perez - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports who has been really good (granted playing in Oakland helps). So I do trust it in general. Thoughts would be appreciated.

I'd go with A because of his velocity and G/B rating...but what do I know? Not much based on my record.
12/3/2022 2:51 PM
Player A: 250 innings, ERA in OAK (AL) of about mid-to-high twos.
Player B: 160 innings, ERA in OAK (AL) of about low-to-mid twos.

So you have to decide whether you want the extra 80-90 innings of slightly lower quality work. I have staffs where I'd rate one higher, and staffs where I'd rate the other higher... also, very disparate health and/or signability would affect my decision as well.

Has anyone ever tried to figure out how overall rating is calculated? I know it’s one of the most worthless ratings. But just curious. Is it based off an average of every other rating? Or are some things weighted more?
