Why *NOT* post ? Cuz you're a joke who everyone will start slowly figuring that out and slow down on the helpful advice usually afforded willing and open-minded newbs.

This guy :

SimLeague Overall

Record: 567-871 (.394)

That's in his favored sport football but of course doesn't stop him from running to baseball to save our day will all that's wrong about it.

Last month SLB had 111 leagues finish. That's about 2,000 - 2,5000 teams. Not once did any of them give a play-by-play of their 162-game season while simultaneously insulting everyone else by ripping the game. Congrats on it being about you. Good luck in your talkalottoyourself box.

Basketball, not football, and my favorite sport by far is baseball. I started here with basketball because I have my own baseball sim, but hadn't tried basketball anywhere. Never heard of clones before in any sim anywhere until I came here and got LeBronned, Stocktoned, Magiced and Rodmaned to death in the Open Leagues. It was a joke. One guy had 3 LeBrons, 2 Stocktons and 2 Magics. That's because the basketball sim had a flaw where if you stockpiled assists your players would shoot like 80% from the field. It's since been fixed so there are diminishing returns once you get past a certain total of assists.

My first real league aside from the Open Leagues with clones I won my division with 54 wins. The last league I completed was 52 wins and a loss in the conference finals.

We'll see how I do in baseball.

Okay, we evened our record at 4-4 as Corridon gave us 8 solid innings in a 3-2 win.

https://www.whatifsports.com/slb/Boxscore.aspx?gid=40446286&pid=1&pbp=0&tf=10

THREE STARS
1 - Corridon - goes 8 innings and allows just 4 hits and 2 runs while garnering the win.
2 - Speaker - 2 hits, a run and an RBI
3 - Hiller - Pitches a scoreless 9th inning for the save.

We have not hit at all yet. Can't wait until we start. After 8 games our team OPS is just .690 with only 2 HRs. It should be up around .800 eventually and we should be homering about 7 times in every 8 games.

Team ERA is 5.63 when it should be down around 4.35 or so. Our real life ERA was 2.73.
12/11/2022 2:03 PM
Next game we go for the sweep and face RHer 1964 Jim Bouton (0-1, 2.61) and we are back to our top starter Roy Mitchell (0-0, 4.23).

I guess what I meant to say is the game wasn't created to mimic real life stats. It was made to be "what if"
No, the "What If" part is because you can play Babe Ruth and Roger Clemens in the same game. Or you can have Joe DiMaggio and Aaron Judge on the same team. Or you can have Cy Young pitch to Barry Bonds.

The game is supposed to give us realistic stats based on what they did in real life, adjusted for home parks and eras.
"We analyze the performance of past and present players and teams utilizing every stat we can get our hands on to predict the outcome of a wide-variety of "what if?" scenarios. The purpose is not to give realistic stats based on what they did in real life, please share where you believe they have stated that?

The "What if" can be whatever I want. What if Pedro faced Ruth? What if I had 9 Babe Ruth's on one team? What if everyone one of my hitters had iron gloves, but amazing range? What if I used Eck and Mariano as openers and Maddux and Pedro as relievers? What if Aaron Judge played in Coors? etc. None of that is based on realism - and as I said in my first post, if you're looking for realism this isn't going to be the site for you.

i ran an all Babe Ruths league once. all pitchers and all hitters had to be the babe

maybe allowed one other pitcher, cain rem

i thought we would break the sim

we did not. it was awesome

i should do it again

We completed the sweep of the Thespians with a 5-3 win. Mitchell with a quality start, 7 innings, 3 runs, and the win. Hiller with a 2 inning save, 2 scoreless. We only had 6 hits in 30 AB, but they included a 3 run HR from McCovey and a solo shot from Cullenbine.

THREE STARS
1. McCovey with a 3 run bomb and a single, 2 runs scored.
2. Cullenbine with a solo HR, a walk, and 2 runs scored.
3. Mitchell goes 7 innings for the win, allowing 3 runs.

Next up is a 3 game series at the LA Suckerpunch in Wrigley Field. They have the same record as us at 5-4. They're in the AL West and we are in the AL Central. We are both a game behind in third place, trailing two teams that are both 6-3.

They have a team ERA of 3.90, and a team OPS of .671. 1930 Babe Ruth has not done much yet, so we look to keep him dozing until after the series.

We are facing 2 lefties in the first 2 games, 1963 Koufax and 1908 Billy Campbell, then 1980 Don Sutton.

Heading now to the WAR ROOM to devise my game plan for the first game.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any settings for how early in the game that you want to bring the infield in, or how often you want to hold a runner on first with second open, or how often you want to either challenge or pitch around big hitters for the other team.

Just curious why the 10% penalty when using the waiver wire?

don't worry guys Savoy is way short of innings in our league, he's going to be in big trouble by the halfway point :)

  1. Draft a 25-40 IP ace starter a la Milacki
  2. Use him for one start
  3. Waive him
  4. Pick up a similar player
  5. Use him for one start
  6. Waive him
  7. etc.
Without the penalty, you could get hundreds of innings for the price of 30

Dum-de-dum-dum....Nice and easy 7-2 win as we stretch our winning streak to 6 games. Actually it wasn't easy, as it took 10 innings, but I'll take a 5 run top of the 10th anytime. Bill Harris blew the save in the bottom of the 9th as Steve Sax's 2 out single scored Cardenas to tie the game at 2-2. But our guys did not fret, they just went right out and put up a 5 spot in the top of the 10th.

Bloomfield Rebels - top 10
M.Stassi remains in the game at C.
L.Cardenas remains in the game at SS.
P.Rose remains in the game at RF.
J.Hellickson enters the game to pitch.
T.Leach is drilled in the knee by a pitch.
DPOD J.Hellickson lets one get away and all runners advance on the wild pitch.
B.Buxton hits a laser beam into LF for a double. T.Leach scores.
M.Cochrane flies out to deep LCF.
II T.Helms grounds it thru the hole to RF for a single. B.Buxton scores.
G.Brown enters the game as a pinch-hitter for B.Harris.
DP G.Brown grounds to 3B. They get the force at 2B, but the batter beats the throw to 1B to avoid the DP.
T.Speaker smokes a line drive single to RCF.
P.Rose drops a flyball and R.Cullenbine reaches on a 2-base error. G.Brown scores.
D.Radatz enters the game to pitch.
- L.Boudreau smokes a line drive to LCF for a double. T.Speaker scores. R.Cullenbine scores.
W.McCovey takes ball four.
T.Leach hits into a 4-6 fielder's choice.

LA Suckerpunch - bottom 10
J.Henderson enters the game to pitch.
K.Gibson swings and misses for strike 3.
B.Ruth takes ball four.
DP S.Garvey hits a shallow flyout to CF.
L.Cardenas strikes out looking.

We are 7-4 now in a 3 way tie for first as those other 2 teams both lost. Our win% is at .636 now, which is about where I expect it to be at the end of the season. This translates to 103 wins for the Rebels. By the way, this is the toughest division in the league so far. Three teams are 7-4, and the last place team is 6-5.

We go for our second straight series sweep tonight against 1980 Don Sutton (0-1, 4.80). 1907 Del Mason is up for us. He got hammered in his first start, so we look to him now for a nice bounce back effort. Helms is down to 92 now and will get a day off. Buxton down to 91, but will not be starting against the RHer.

THREE STARS
1. Zahn - 8 innings, one run
2. Boudreau - 2 hits, 3 RBI
3. Buxton - 2 hits, run, RBI
12/12/2022 2:09 PM
Okay, we finally lost again. Took an 11-4 beating to fall back to 7-5. Mason got pummeled again. I may check the Waiver wire for a replacement. In 5.2 innings it was 13 hits, 8 runs, 7 earned. Sutton shut us out through 4, then we got 4 runs off of him from the 5th through the 7th.

https://www.whatifsports.com/slb/Boxscore.aspx?gid=40455328&pid=1&pbp=0&tf=10

Three hits for Spoke to get up to .340, and Cochrane went deep for the first time this season. McDowell got touched up for 3 runs in 2 innings of relief.

The division is now a 4 way tie as all 4 teams are 7-5. We play "Balking To New Orleans" now, a 4 game series.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VHroLyw7F0

We face Plank, a lefty, and then 3 straight righties. The games are in the phucking Astrodome, where you can't drive a ball out of unless you shoot it out of a cannon. We're back to the top of our rotation with Mitchell going. Explain this one, Mason went 5.2 and threw 103 pitches, and he shows 100 and green for his fatigue. WTF?

They have Coleman, who is 11 for 12 on SB already, Eddie Murray, Max Carey, Roberto Alomar and Jose Ramirez. It's more of a pitching team. Besides Plank they have Joss, Cy Morgan and Chief Bender starting, with Dick Hall, Mariano Rivera, Roy Face, and a second Cy Morgan in the pen. I don't see stockpiling all that pitching in the Astrodome, where people won't hit much anyway.
