I was hungry and wanted a hotdog for lunch today. I usually get one at my favorite sports bar, but I was at Costco, so I ordered a hot dog. After taking one quick look at it, I didn't like the color of the dog, the texture of the bun, the color of the mustard I put on it, or the way the onions were sliced. I publicly made sure that everybody knew my dissatisfaction made sure that I emailed the management of Costco, telling them that their hotdogs were horse crap, along with the way they run their business. I'll publicly post their reply and make fun of it.

But I was still hungry, so I started eating it, and then decided to blog every single detail of every single bite of it along the way.

Was it made from real dog, Chris? I'm not big on cheap imitations...

Hot? How hot was it? Steaming? Spicy hot? Do tell...

Sliced onions? I prefer mine diced. This might be a game changer...

Mustard? Yellow? Gray Poupon? Or is it Grey? That's really one of those gray areas. Yeah i spell it with an A... I'm picky, so this is important. Let's don't get into mayonnaise vs Spin Blend or Miracle Whip. I'm a Hellmann's man, through and through...what do they put into that other stuff? Does it have mayonnaise in it?

So we got 9 hits and 3 walks against Maddux in 8 innings, a WHIP of 1.50, and we still got shut out. They got 7 hits and no walks, and beat us 4-0. We are 10-12 now, and of course the leader in our division has the best record in the league.

They had a solo HR from Gil Hodges, a SF and a couple of RBI singles while we left 12 on base. Stillwell and Winfield each had 2 hits for them. We had 3 hits from Leach and 2 hits from Helms. After his 5 for 5 game, Speaker has gone 0 for 5 in his last 2 games.

Then your team is a shoo-in. Everyone here can tell you that (due to the cheat codes that contrarian23 mentioned earlier) the team with the best record has no chance whatsoever of ever winning a championship.

We call it the '69 Orioles/01 Mariners curse. Or maybe we don't call it that. I can never remember our conspiracies anymore.

i only took LSD once in my life

then we left the house and walked half a mile out to and under the I-5 bridge

creaky old 2x6s and the mighty columbia 50 ft below rushing to the sun

Okay, we beat Speedy 6-2. They had 4 steals but also 2 caught stealings. Zahn went all the way on a 6 hitter. We went 1 for 1 stealing on their D- throwing catcher Lucroy.

Bottom one we got a stick (one run) on an RBI single from McCovey. They got 2 in the second with small ball. We tied it at 2-2 in the 4th on a walk by Helms, SAC by Zahn, and an RBI double from Speaker. McCovey led off the 5th with a HR to give us the lead for good at 3-2. We put the game away in the 7th with 3 runs on 4 hits. Just noticed they have Raines at 2B and Brock in RF. Lucky for the team owner they don't rate OF throwing arms, because Brock's was awful. He could never play RF regularly here if the arms were rated as they should be.

We banged out 13 hits. Speaker with 3, Boudreau, McCovey and Leach with 2 each.

THREE STARS
1. Zahn - Complete game win, 2 runs allwed
2. McCovey - 2 hits including a HR, 2 RBI
3. Speaker - 3 hits, run, RBI

Speedy again this evening, at their place this time, Dodger Stadium, another extreme pitcher's park at .87.

Vic Willis (5-1, 2.47) goes, as they use a 3 man rotation. Their better throwing catcher is back, Farmer Weaver. We've got Frank Corridon (1-1, 4.41) on the bump. Zahn's CG helped rejuvenate our bullpen. We have 6 fresh 100 arms out there now with just McDowell not ready to go yet.

We've gone 13 games now without winning 2 in a row after a 3-2 walkoff loss just now. Great 8 innings from Corridon and Harris gives up the run bottom 9 to lose it.

Speaker leads off the game with a HR to give us the lead, but they tie it in their half as Coleman reaches on an infield hit and steals second, third and home. He actually stole home 4 times in his career, but was caught stealing home 10 times. Of course he makes it against us.

We take the lead back in the third on an RBI triple by McCovey. Bottom 4 they tie it back up on Farmer Weaver's 2 out line single to CF. Nobodys Richard Rodriguez and Chris Sampson shut us down in the 8th and the 9th. We bring in Harris bottom 9, and he loads the bases with no outs/. Gets a 6-2 force out, but Brock then singles in the winning run. They were 4 for 5 on steals.

We got just 6 hits, 2 from Speaker and 2 from McCovey. 1968 Gates Brown had one of the greatest pinch hitting seasons of all time (.370/.442/.685) so far is 2 for 15 for us, and without a pinch hit I think.

Next up a 4 game series on the road against the last team in my division that we haven't played yet. Northern Stars X. Let's see what Grand Canyon they are playing in.....Dodger Stadium again, of course. Their big hitters are Kauff, Ryan Braun, Boudreau, Carew and Rosen. Team OPS of .626, with us now at .682. Our team ERA is now 4.96, and theirs is 4.00. Their starters for the 4 games are listed now as 18 Cluber, 62 Koufax, 80 Steve Stone and 72 Ken Holtman. Ausmus is the catcher, A thrower.

We're back to the top of our rotation, so it's Roy Mitchell (2-0, 3.43) in the first game. It's been the bullpen that's hurt us mostly, along with #2 starter Russ Ford.

1. My mom - she perfectly cut the crust off my PB&J
2. Walmart greeter - He made eye contact with me today and spoke in coherent sentences.
3. savoybg - He didn't complain about the sim today.
