Dropped off considering list Topic

Well, I guess I should read the forums more. I contacted support this morning because I was leading on a player, and lost out on him, and then looked at the considering list and we were not even on it despite 4 HVs and a CV. However the explanation makes sense, and I actually like the realism, because if I was the recruit I would have given Delaware State the middle finger too after having all of the promises moved, as well as having a scholarship removed then reinstated, then minutes and a start removed, then minutes reinstated. I just want to make everyone else aware of the possible negative ramifications of using a redshirt to undo promises. It's definitely powerful in a bad way.

Here's what I sent it to CS and the response:
There was a whenever player that was in the lead on at the end of the first session. I filled my 3 scholarships in the early session, but was hoping to land him if I had an EE, which I did. I also started working on a second player that I knew I would rather have if I had an opening. So, as the second session began, I undid the scholarship, but left the promised start and promised minutes with the hopes that I could sign the other guy. That player did not sign with anyone at 5pm, so I left it like that with the withdrawn scholarship for the 11pm cycle, at which point that player signed with Pittsburgh. At that point, I was still the leader and no one else had a scholarship offer. I still had a guaranteed start and minutes, and really felt like I could sign him without a start if he signed at 5am, even if Arkansas put a scholarship on him. So I did a redshirt, then removed the start and put 15 minutes back on to supplement the CV and 4 HVs I already had on him. At 5 AM he signed with Arkansas. I went to the recruiting home, where it showed players I had contacted to see what happened, and it did not even show up on that list, so I found the player, and I was not even on the considering list, which is really weird. Here are screen shots.

I kind of suspected it probably had to do with the recent recruiting scandal and sure enough here is the answer I got. I just wanted to post this so others realize not to mess with redshirts to undo minutes or a start, or you could really get burned.

Hey Tim,

Thanks for reaching out. You may be aware there was an exploit discovered last month where negative actions (withdraw scholarship, apply redshirt, withdraw minutes promises) in certain circumstances where not actually account for net negative actions when paired with their contrasting action on a recruit. It has since been corrected so given your team and recruit scenario negative actions could carry stronger impacts than they normally would have. In this case the withdrawal of scholarship offer, and withdrawal of minutes, and withdrawal of promise start were considered negative actions on the recruit and and were more powerful (negatively) than the positive action they negated, putting those actions at net negative actually lessening the recruits interest in you and dropping you off their list.

thanks for sharing the color!

I always assumed that withdrawing a schollie was a bigger negative than the positive of offering a schollie - never tested it - makes sense to me

The weirdest thing happened recently... if you select Campus Visit and withdraw it, your money is gone. And I ended up losing the recruit as a 75/25 favorite to a sim. It makes you wonder if there are other circumstances that are not advertised. I think if we knew what they were, it could make recruiting much more interesting and strategic. Matching up the preferences does not seem to do much at all.

Not a great player but solid for FB?PRESS.

Oh wow - did not ever see that about withdrawing a CV. I may not have withdrawn one. You mean before it processes - right?

Yes - seconds after, I withdrew it. And seems like there could be a negative impact in doing so. But did not affect my lead on the recruit, with the exception that I lost the recruit with 75/25 odds.

Have you sent a ticket for clarification on this? It'd be good to know if this was a recent change related to the shenanigans, or if this is an occasional glitch. I am certain it has not been standard to not be refunded $ for a withdrawn CV, I've done it a few times; not a cloak and dagger move, I just sometimes change my mind on how to spend my money, and I would have noticed if I didn't have it to spent after withdrawing a visit, because I always go spend it somewhere else right away.

Yeah I noticed it right away. I guess I could send in a ticket and let y’all know what they say.

DEFINITELY ticket for that. that is not allowed. also withdrawing any action same cycle is supposed to have no imapct, if it has any impact, that would be an important bug to report as well.

yes, this is weird and should not work that way - inconsistent w lots of other features and guidance

THERE WAS - long ago - a thing that I have not seen in ages. Once upon a time, you would send a campus visit and sometimes the kid wiould say "nah, I dont want to visit". And I think sometimes you got the money back but sometimes you didnt - like whether you bought a refundable ticket etc....

have not seen this in decades of HD time.

I'm pretty sure the withdrawal and the recruit signing with the other team as a major underdog was a coincidence but wish I knew we lost money for campus visit withdrawals. Below is my message and I'll update it with the response.

The weirdest thing happened recently... I selected Campus Visit, then withdrew it instantly, and it did not refund my money used for the visit. And I ended up losing the recruit as a 75/25 favorite to a sim. Curious if losing him as a 75/25 fav was a coincidence or if there were minor changes to how the game is operating. Also, in the past if you withdrew a home visit or campus visit before the next cycle, it refunded your money. Has this changed? Thanks!

Hello Kevin,

If you withdrew the campus visit from the list of actions taken you should have received the funds back. There isn't a negative impact added for removing the campus visit from the player, only RS, scholarship and other promises result in a negative affect if removed.

Yeah that sounds right. It was either a glitch or some kind of error on some end. Depending on timing, possibly too close to when the cycle actually ran?
