And....we lost the first game of the Yard Dogs series, 6-5 in 11 innings. Pete Richert goes 1.2 scoreless innings despite a fatigue number of 79 to get the win. Fetters blows the save in the 8th, and then Alcala takes the loss.

They got a run in the top of the 11th. We loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 11th, and Dickey hits into a double play. Dickey homered and Boudreau had his 56th double.

Game 2 of the series Wed afternoon. We are going with Frank Corridon (6-5, 3.25) The Dogs will have Ken Hill (2-3, 3.47) on the mound.

We just clubbed the Yard Dogs, 13-3. Corridon goes 8 for the win with Kontos mopping up in the 9th. Ken Hill took the loss after allowing 3 runs in 4 innings, but the guy who got battered was Pete Richert with a fatigue number of 75. Richert gave up 8 runs in 3 innings.

The Dogs got one in the top of the first on an RBI single by Eddie Murray. We countered with one of our own in the bottom of the frame on an RBI hit by Leach. Bottom 3 we got 2 on RBI hits by Schofield and Simpson. Top 4 they tied it at 3-3 on RBI hits by Tommy Davis and Redmond. Bottom 5 we pulled ahead 5-3 on an RBI hit by Hosmer and a SF from Pignatano.

No scoring after that into the middle of the 8th. Bottom 8 now, and we put up 8 runs...

Game 3 of the Yard Dogs series tonight. About time we won one of these rubber games of a 3 game series. The Dogs are going with Verlander (11-14, 4.15). We are giving the ball to Sam Leever (6-4, 5.08).

The Yard Dogs just beat us 5-2 to take game 3 of the series, so they win 2 of the 3 games. Verlander went 5 for the win, and they used 6 more pitchers after that for the final 4 innings, including 3 different guys each going 1/3 of an inning in the 9th. Leever took the loss.

The Yard Dogs only had singles, but 10 of them, with Redmond collecting 3 hits. We had 7 hits, but nobody had more than one. Boudreau did get his 57th double, and Speaker his 49th.

We start another new 3 game series on the overnight. This time it's 3 games at Klono's Brazen Balls. They play at Nationals Park in Washington DC. They are 74-70 which is 3 games worse than we are at 77-67. We need to go 13-5 to get to 90 wins, but the RD of +100 or more is well within reach as we are currently +98 runs.

We will again face 3 right handers. Game one they are going with Dylan Cease (11-8, 3.46). We've got Roy Mitchell (15-8, 3.71) going.

Klono's takes game one of the series, 4-3. Dylan Cease the win, Kimbrel the save. Mitchell takes the loss and falls to 15-9 now.

Nixon, Marte, Hart and Meusel with 2 hits apiece, Hart with 2 RBI. We got just 6 hits with 2 of them from Hosmer, who also had 2 RBI.

Game 2 of the series Thursday afternoon. We will face Spud Chandler (11-13, 4.21), I think for the first time, and he seems to have been there all season, with over 220 innings now. Spud's Yankee teammate Red Ruffing (3-0, 3.3*) will go for us.

As usual when we lose the first game of a series, we just won game 2 over Klono's, 6-1. Ruffing goes all the way for the win to go to 4-0 on the season. Spud Chandler went all the way for the loss, falling to 11-14 for Klono's.

Klono's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when a run scored as Segui hit into a double play. They never scored again. We erupted for 5 runs in the 4th....

In the top of the 7th Scioscua tried to pick a runner of 1B and threw it away, which allowed a run to score to make it 6-1. That's how it ended. Boudreau had his 58th double, and Leach is now up to 89 RBI.

Once again, the rubber game of a 3 game series this evening. We are now back to 10 games over .500, and the 6-1 win puts us at +102 runs for the season with our run differential. Tonight we are throwing Ray Collins (3-3, 3.25). Klono's goes with Steve Kline (11-9, 3.75).

We finally won the rubber game of a series just now, 13-4 over Klono's. Ray Collins went 5 for the win, and Alcala and Fiene each went 2 scoreless innings to finish up the game. Steve Kline got his *** handed to him, allowing 14 hits and 3 walks for 8 runs in 5.2 innings. Collins is now 4-3 and Kline fell to 11-10.

We got one in the second, 4 in the third, 4 in the 6th and 5 in the 8th. Klono's got all 4 of their runs in the 5th, which tied the game at that time. Bob Meusel with his 29th HR and Jim Ray Hart with 3 hits for Klono's. Boudreau had his 59th double.

Okay, tonight we start the final 3 game series and the final out of division games of the season. We host FSJU for 3 games. After that it's three 4 games series against the other 3 teams in our division. Target has pulled one game ahead of Balking, and we play both team in 4 game series coming up. We could be spoilers.

We are going with Sam Leever (6-5, 5.22) tonight in the series opener. Again we will face 3 righty starters in this series. Tonight it's Barney Pelty (15-18, 3.44).
