Other site better for progressive leagues? Topic

I'm only interested in progressive leagues and have been playing them here for ages. But every year I get more frustrated with how difficult it is to run them on this site. Commissioners have to do things like build player pools and delete drafted players from the pool that are difficult for humans to keep track of with 100% accuracy but very easy for computer programs to do. Owners have to do a ton of research instead of just being provided with a list of stats for just the available players, which again a program could provide. Is there another site that has better support for progressive leagues?

I assume progressive leagues make up a small percentage of the site's revenue, so they have never been a priority for fixes. I recognize there is very little capacity for making changes, and the priority is on bringing in new users. But I would imagine that progressive leagues make for captivated users that stick with the site much longer. I'm in progressive leagues that have been going for 50+ seasons. That has to bring in at least some revenue.

And I'm no developer, so I don't actually know how hard it would be to set up a draft tool for progressive leagues. But it doesn't seem too different from what every normal real-life fantasy league does. A commissioner would pick the year and other specifications. Owners would go in and click on the players they want to keep from the previous year. When they're done, the program would spit out all the players who are left as a draft pool. Then the commissioner could set times for rounds, and owners could select from the draft pool. Then there would be an auto-pick for owners who don't show up. I'm sure I'm not the first person to propose this, but I don't know how much discussion there has been since I don't follow discussion forums much.

I don’t know any other sites - but I’ve been using the excel sheet created by profcake. It does a great job of simplifying creating available player lists. I’ve added a few additional queries in mine that sorts out rookies separately and labels them appropriately.

additional draft tools would be amazing for progressive owners and commissioners. While profcakes tool is great for the original list, maintaining the draft is still difficult at times and having to research multiple years can be very time consuming.

fingers crossed - hopefully updates are on horizon.

These are the updated lists I made from profcake -Just put the year in the query, and it'll separate out the rookies, and the 3rd tab has the master sheet with rookies labeled

To gain access - make a copy. I have it locked so that things don't get messed up with the original document. If you make it a copy you'll have full rights and can edit the post.

Edit: Made it so if you have the link you can view, that way you can actually make a copy. Didn't realize I had it fully restricted.

chargingryno, thanks! Magnificent tools. BUT...the pitchers tool easily made a copy and I was able to download it and open it and put it in a file in my computer. But the htiters' tool won't let me open it or save it. It tells me that there is illegible content in it. Any thoughts on why?

hmm, I don't know why it's doing that. I don't think I've experienced that before - maybe someone else here has?
