Compensation picks aren't included, just natural ones. He would pick 16th if not for the comp pick in there.

Player Profile: Orlando Belliard - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports Why is this guy so good? I know he has low LH/RH splits. He has good control and 2 good pitches. Does his GB/Velocity really make up for his low splits to make him a All Star type closer?

Player Profile: Walter Jefferies - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports This guy too. His era was between 6-7 2 seasons ago. I put him to a tandem pitcher to throw 3 or so innings and he has became a wonderful surprise. I know he has low control so my thought was to limit his time out on the mound to help minimize that. He has very good splits and great GB/Velocity as well. His era was 2.36 last season and it is even better this season. I am thinking the gb/velocity kind of neutralize his low control. We are in a normal park. Any thoughts are welcome because I am far from an expert or anything to do with knowing what to do most times. Thanks

Exactly those things. His Very Good pitch ratings make up for the lower splits. Plus the fact that he's only throwing short innings, he's perfect in that role. The low splits would be exposed if he were a starter. That said, remember that only a few bad outings can blow up his ERA etc.

Low Control is manageable if the player is used in short samples. Long relief is perfect for this guy. That said, I don't have many "impossible" ratings but I find anything below exactly 40 can't play in the majors. Again, this player would be exposed if he were in the starting rotation and counted on for 150+ innings.

I really appreciate the input. I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it with these guys. I am sure they will have bad outings at some point. So far so good for this season and all of last season.

Jefferies has spent most of his life in great pitchers parks in the NL; an average pitcher would have an ERA of 3.80 in those parks, and he's at about 4.10 while in the NL. And he got his *** absolutely handed to him in a neutral, AL environment. His sample size for you is very small; his ERA will be over 4 by the end of the season unless you have a monster defense.

Belliard has all of 34 major league innings under his belt; his ERA will go up near 4 by the end of the season, also. That said, his very low VsL is substantially protected by his being a reliever, since simmy does a worse job of getting the platoon advantage midgame than humans do in the startling lineup.

I think it is just a mirage. If he gets ripped in AL parks make sure you do not play him in one. I am no expert for sure so take it for what it is worth. Enjoy the production and have a back up plan when it goes sideways!

Really? He did a good job last season in 107 innings. He is off to a better start this season. I know he is not going to be that good all the time. I do have a backup plan as well.

He finished 2.36 in 107 innings last season. I am hoping for a decent season this season as well. I know it can go south anytime but he has done better this season. If I keep him out of the AL parks and field a solid defense behind him this season he may do good again. He is bargain price again this season, but next season he wants 4 or 5 times what he is making now. I know I am not going to sign him after this season. I just hope he gets me good production in Augusta this season. I really do appreciate the input.

So far Belliard is hanging tough 0-2 27 for 29 in saves and a 1.41 era at the AS Break. Jeffries is doing good as well. He has had a couple rough outings lately but still respectable 2.97 era. 4 of the last 6 outings in relief he gave up 2 or more runs.

This is one of the strangest bats I've ever seen. Anyone with experience on how this guy turns out? I'm not bidding on him, but 100 contact, zero power, and 4 batting eye makes me think he swings at everything, hits everything, but they're all basically bunts....is that about right? Splits are both in the 60's

What's his speed? If it is very high, he could get a lot of slap infield singles. And then if his baserunning rating is high, he could be a good base stealer.
