Evals will start coming in tonight. 4 at a time. I’ve never done them before so this should be fun.

and they are taking longer than expected because I am trying go in depth for each player.

also, what do I know? I may be way off in assessing your teams and I truly think everyone drafted really well. I have a pretty bad team myself this season so these may not be accurate and completely worthless. There’s the self deprecating persona I knew would come out.

24)Ty84moss: Overall it looks like 105-110 Usage% on the floor most of the time, Weighted EFG of about 55.9%, OReb just under 40%, DReb just under 100%, Ast just under 60%,and To’s and Fouls are clean. My only concern is if you have enough 3 point shooting because Danny Green, Delon Wright, and a little Jamario Moon are your only 3 pt shooters and they mostly have low Usage. I think there is a defensive strategy that some teams can use against you. Overall great draft. I am giving you a chewy score of 75. (this doesn’t mean a C grade, I use different factors.)

Kevin Garnett

24

You drafted Garnett at the turn which was a really nice pick considering he had been going 22nd overall based on the last 5 drafts. The biggest flaw is the low EFG% at 50.8% but amazing DReb (26.5) and Ast% (18.6) from your SF position with 3 position eligibility to defend with that 90 Def. TO's and Fouls are clean as well.

Tim Duncan

25

I love the pairing of Duncan with KG. They both have elite defense, over 13 ast%, and great rebounding. Duncan's Mid Range % is just under 40% which is good, 28.4% Usage which gives you 6 pts of tiered usage towards the team usage penalty.

Zion Williamson

72

Zion Williamson is kind of like a Charles Barkley who doesn't rebound. Great EFG, and USG, with decent TO cleanliness, but defense is poor. But with KG's 3 position versatility, you can hide Zion's poor Def when Garnett and Duncan are also on the floor. Maybe you'll even play Zion at the 2 with his 98% effectiveness.

Danny Green

73

I like Danny Green's Defense, clean TO's and fouls, 3 position effectiveness, but does nothing for rebounding and assists. And based on your final roster, I think you're playing him at PG. It kind of works, since you'll be getting assists from your bigs but taking Danny Green 73rd when his ADP was probably more around 100 seems like a reach. But drafting has turned into reaching for your guys in rd 3 and later so I can't criticize too much there. Players like Horace Grant, Michael Porter, and Larry Nance were on the board and I may have preferred taking before Danny Green.

Amare Stoudemire

120

Amare Stoudemire is someone usually taken by others before I feel he is worth taking. But seeing you drafted him in the 5/6 turn, I like the pick. He fits well with KG, Duncan, and Zion especially in the playoffs with a nice 4 man SF-C rotation to cover enough playoff minutes.

Jamario Moon

121

Jamarion Moon fits your model for sure. Clean TO's and Fouls, great defense.

Delon Wright

122

Delon Wright! I will never critique drafting vs ADP in round 5 and 6. But there were other PG options with a little more Ast% but worse Def, and TO and foul cleanliness. So good job for sticking to your model and getting a good fit.

3/15/2023 10:18 AM
Super thorough! Absolutely love it, thanks Chewy!

You are spot on with nearly all of your assumptions. Danny Green will be at PG and I plan on using Zion at SG when he isn't backing up KG for a few minutes.

I have never had a team in which the large majority of assists come from the bigs. It was a bizarre, odd build but I'm excted to see how it shakes out!

23)Samuelyork93: Overall it looks like 105-115 Usage% on the floor most of the time, Weighted EFG of about 56.4%, OReb roughly 37%, DReb roughly 87%, Ast roughly 67%,and To’s and Fouls are clean. My only concern is the defensive rebounding. Perhaps you could have sacrificed a little DEF or EFG to improve it. Overall good draft. I am giving you a chewy score of 67.5.

Kawhi Leonard

23

Nice pick! Kawhi was drafted exactly where I expected. He provides ultra efficient cleanliness with great EFG, while giving you elite defense that can guard 3 positions. Others might knock minutes or Mid % but I don't consider them to be weaknesses.

Kevin McHale

26

I am a Celtics fan so I like Kevin McHale. But based on ADP, this was a little too soon when Whiteside and Capela were also available. Maybe minutes were a concern after drafting Kawhi in the 1st. However, McHale also provides efficient cleanliness with elite EFG and amazing defense with the versatility of defending 3 positions.

Chauncey Billups

71

I like Chauncey Billups especially when he fell to you at the end of the 3rd. He provides decent EFG and good assists with a good A/T ratio which means his TO's and fouls are mostly clean too. However, I may have preferred a different season than you have selected.

Jerry Lucas

74

Considering I just drafted Jerry Lucas in Savage X, I like him and am well aware of many options to go with. In the 52 format, I may have preferred a different season than you chose. But he provides great rebounding with clean TO's and fouls while giving you good EFG for someone in that era. Next to McHale, you can hide that 50 Def a little.

Kevon Looney

119

I love me some Kevon Looney. Again, though, the version you selected has better defense, but there is another version that gives you so much more DReb which is what I think your team needs most. But the EFG is elite but Usage only 12.8% and the fouls are over 6 per 48 minutes.

Paul Millsap

123

Paul Millsap has now been drafted only twice in the last 6 52 drafts. Maybe you could have drafted a better rebounding center and tried waiting for Millsap? Idk. He does provide pretty good EFG with 3rd tier usage and 3 position flexibility.

Shai Gilgeous- Alexander

124

SGA is having a nice 22-23 season. But from what's available I like the one you chose. He will probably backup Kawhi at SG and is a decent fit.

3/15/2023 11:25 AM

22)PirateSteve: Overall it looks like only about 99 Usage% on the floor most of the time, Weighted EFG of about 56.2%, OReb roughly 39.9%, DReb roughly 97.7%, Ast roughly 69.2%, 77 weight avg team defense, and To’s and Fouls are clean. My only concern is the usage. Perhaps you could find some higher usage seasons from some of your players? Overall good draft. I am giving you a chewy score of 71.

Larry Bird

22

Larry Bird kept falling and you snagged him at #22. Great pick! I see him as worthy of 16-18 pick. Good EFG, great Def, with great rebounding and Ast% from your SF. He is a pretty clean player for TO's and fouls too.

Hassan Whiteside

27

I tend to like a lot of Whiteside. He provides great EFG, elite Def and Rebounding, and not too many TO's. Ast are low and fouls ok.

Jonas valanciunas

70

Maybe a tad early for Valanciunas, but he pairs nicely with Whiteside. He can hide defensively with Whiteside, provides elite EFG and rebounding with good tier 3 usage. TO's are good, and fouls just ok.

Horace Grant

75

Maybe a little early for him here but you have to grab your guys especially at the turns. Horace Grant played a key role on my team last year. I am seeing a potentially crowded frontcourt unless Bird will play some SG. Grant provides great EFG cleanly, good Def, and good offensive rebounding if played at SF. Fouls are very clean.

Al Horford

118

I think Al Horford fits in nicely somewhere with Grant, and Bird at the SF/PF positions. He provides really good Def (80), good EFG (55), and a good reb/ast combo that is similar to Bird's splits. He does that while being a very clean TO and Foul player.

Mookie Blaylock

125

I've never had Mookie on any of my teams ever so I must not see his value like others. He gives you a lot of minutes, good 3pt shooting, really good defense, without hurting TO's and fouls. Ok, I see it now. Good player!

Nate McMillan

126

This is now only the 2nd time in the last 6 drafts that this player was drafted. Nate McMillan provides elite defense and good rebounding for a PG. Otherwise I am not a fan of his TO's, fouls, and face. jk but i realize you have to compromise certain stats when you assemble a roster.

3/15/2023 12:06 PM

21)ncih: Overall it looks like only about 105-115 Usage% on the floor most of the time, Weighted EFG of about 54.5%, OReb roughly 34.8%, DReb roughly 97.6%, Ast roughly 73.8%, 72.2 weighted avg team defense, and To’s and Fouls are average. My only concern is the fouls and TO’s and maybe EFG could be a tad higher. But this team will live and die with James Harden. Overall good draft. I am giving you a chewy score of 65.5.

James Harden

21

21st overall is a little early for my liking but basically in the right range. He is going to provide all the offense with that 40.5 usage and do it with 3 pt shooting and getting to the line. To's though? And 76 defense is good but undeserving of it. I wish the EFG was just a little higher.

Ben Wallace

28

Great rebounding Super elite defense, and super clean for a big man especially. I know Usage was all set, but I am wondering if Capela was an option for you instead of Wallace.

Anfernee Hardaway

69

I realize Penny was falling compared to ADP, but I am not sure I like the fit with Harden. Yes Hardaway provides really good defense with good EFG and doesn't foul much, but you already had Harden to play PG and I may have preferred to fill other needs with the 3rd round pick.

Buck Williams

76

Buck gives you good EFG, defense, and rebounding. Fouls and TO's are not clean though. I see the value in being a top rebounding team, but will losing the possession battle be worth the additional rebounds?

Nicolas Batum

117

I like the 4 position flexibility, good EFG, really nice DReb/Ast% splits especially for his position. But the defense is not great which can be hidden.

Jamaal Tinsley

127

I'm not sure where Tinsley fits in with Harden and Hardaway but in vacuum provides great Ast% and a good Def. His fouls and TO's are not the greatest but fills a backup role I'm guessing.

JaVale McGee

128

JaVale McGee does a lot well, but has a big fouling dagger. Elite EFG with that 22.8 usage is nice along with great rebounding. So that is why you live with the fouls.

3/15/2023 12:32 PM

19)Bablamzee: Overall it looks like just under 100 Usage% on the floor most of the time, Weighted EFG of about 55%, OReb roughly 38%, DReb roughly 101%, Ast roughly 70%, 70 weighted avg team defense, and To’s and Fouls are above average. My only concern is the usage. I see no one able to back up Olajuwon with any usage. Those 8 minutes per game are going to hurt. Perhaps you could find some higher usage seasons from some of your players? . Overall decent draft. I am giving you a chewy score of 65.

Hakeem Olajuwon

19

Olajuwon feels more like a 23-26 pick value. But he provides a ton of quality minutes with decent EFG, not great. He provides elite defense, good Rebounding, and chips on with some assists. However, the To's and fouls are not the cleanest. I see a good defensive pairing with Capela based on the matchups.

Clint Capela

30

I like the Capela pick. He dropped based on recent ADP so this was good value. His defense is ok but provides a huge boost on both the OReb (16.3) and DReb (32.1) categories, as well as elite EFG. TO's are extremely clean and fouls are clean for a big man.

Steve Nash

67

Good value based on recent ADP, provides elite assists and EFG with tier 3 usage (23%). However, the TO's and defense are terrible and just not part of my personal team building philosophies. But I hope it works for you.

Gerald Wallace

78

This pick leaves me scratching my head because it was way too early based on recent ADP. There were other guys like Montrezl Harrell, Bobby Jones, and Andre Kirilenko on the board at the time. However, Wallace does provide a ton of quality minutes with elite defense, good rebounding, below avg EFG,but pretty clean TO's and fouls. I would try and play him at SG.

Andre Iguodala

115

I would have liked either Wallace or Iguodala, not both. Iguodala provides good defense, ok EFG but great DReb and Ast for a SG. Also super clean with TO's and fouls.

Rajon Rondo

131

Rondo is basically a Nash backup, but seeing other PG's go undrafted leaves me wondering if you could have filled another need like usage instead. Rondo could have been gotten in the reserve pool. But he fits the Nash backup role very well. Awful TO's.

Ed Davis

132

I do like Ed Davis especially when certain SimBasketball legends give him random shout outs and just mentioning him moves his draft value up. Ed Davis provides elite EFG but only from a 12.7 usage, with super elite rebounding. Defense is not existent but the rebounding is where his value comes from.

We should get a predict your own chewy score thing going to see how close we come to our actual chewy score.
3/15/2023 2:45 PM

18)beloud: Overall it looks like about 105 - 115 Usage% on the floor most of the time, Weighted EFG of about 56%, OReb roughly 44%, DReb roughly 94%, Ast roughly 63%, 80 weighted avg team defense, and To’s and Fouls are above average. My only concern is if Fat Lever ultimately helps you in the possession battle more than he hurts EFG. Overall excellent draft. I am giving you a chewy score of 77.5. (Highest so far)

Charles Barkley

18

Barkley went a little early for my liking but a good pick. Barkley provides Outstanding EFG at a high 26.7 usage but not great DReb for a PF. I think Barkely holds more value playing SF but his OReb is great. Defense is below average, TO's are too high, and Fouls are just ok. His defense should be sheltered by the versatility of elite defenders all around everywhere else.

Paul George

31

Paul George is a reigning champ. Although I think his highest value comes at playing SG. Paul George provides ok EFG efficiently, good rebounding and pretty good ast%. He also provides elite defense at multiple positions and obviously gives you plenty of 3's.

Jimmy Butler

66

Jimmy Butler provides just below avg EFG, but his value is his Defense, Rebounding, good Ast%, with very clean TO's and fouls. I'd like this more if he was going to play PG.

Robert Williams

79

This piece fits very well with Barkley, PG, and Jimmy Butler. Robert Williams is a guy with Ultra elite EFG but from an extremely low Usage rate, great defense, good OReb only, with clean TO's and Fouls. If he could improve his DReb, his value would increase.

Derrick Favors

114

Derrick Favors also fits in nicely with this team. Elite EFG from a 19.4% usage rate, great defense, clean TO's and fouls, and good OReb. Like Rob Williams, DReb is a little light for a PF/C.

Daniel Gafford

133

Gafford seems to be that super quality player who just never plays a lot of minutes. He provides super EFG, great Def, but fouls a lot and DReb is good only if playing SF.

Fat Lever

134

I have Fat Lever in Savage X and I like what he brings. I just don't think his EFG is worthy of being used in this 52 format. Yes, super elite Rebounding for a PG with 80 def, awesome cleanliness. But that EFG. I think you still could have had him and drafted someone else with one of your 6th round picks.
