Jonstephen25, I bequeath to you the lousy 35 Philadelphia Phillies.
They don't offer you any pitching help but they do have an upgrade at 1B. Enjoy!
So glad this team didnt make it back to me. Theyre really one of the worst.

calhoop's busy watching the tournament, so I'll just slip the 1935 Washington Senators under his door, and let him figure out how to build a bench or a bullpen when he has the time.

Let’s keep the run if lousy 1935 teams running. I give you the similarity lousy 1935 Brooklyn Dodgers. They provide a decent 1B, one cheap OF sub, one decent SP, and that is about it.

1955 Washington Senators

I’ll post my reasoning later

can someone sitemail for me
They suck?
Sorry for the delay -

calhoop had the 45 cardinals they provide a solid 3B and a few decent lineup fillers. They have subs at 3B, OF, and SS. They only have a couple of decent pitchers. I gifted him the 55 Senators because they provide no real upgrades on offense, subs at the same 3B, OF, and SS. They also have one of the worst pitching staffs you will ever see. As midnight pointed out, they suck...

Beernoser, I've been trying for some time now to find the best team to leave you struggling with. It's a bit unnerving knowing that I'm going to get stuck with one of the squads I don't give you, but I can't worry about that yet. Let's recap where we stand with your team:

The 35 Giants have a few solid pitchers and some nice outfielders and a couple solid infielders. Some of those bats are a tad expensive, but they might be manageable if all the pieces fit.

The 65 Senators have only one useful pitcher and not much cheap help anywhere. You're gonna have to start a few of their hitters. Also, neither of these teams has more than one 3B or SS, so backups are an issue there.

So I'm trying to give you a team that doesn't help your pitching out, keeps you constrained at 3B/SS, is low on cheapies, and offers strength where you already have it.

There's a reason why no one talks about the glory days of the Kansas City A's, you know. It's because they didn't have any. They never even finished .500.

So the 1955 KC A's are not a great ballclub to say the least. The pitching is ... well, let's just say it's not good. They do have a couple decent hitters, but they're all OF and 1B again and all the OF need to platoon with someone. You're really going to find yourself boxed in trying to roster any of those Giants OF when you need to use those spots on Senators and A's and only get 5 total. Plus, these guys only have one sub-$1M bat for you and ... well, of course, no backup 3B or SS. You've got a couple places to get creative, but you still have to survive daggers in addition to finding yourself a 4th team that can fill all the remaining holes.

We wish you luck, but not too much!

This team has 11 hitters priced $2-4M and they all suck. Only one cheap hitters and little P. The 11 at 2-4m was the most of any team, and could cause a team have to spend around an extra $6-8m on crap.

Waiting for the pain can be worse than the assignment itself.
3/17/2023 9:55 PM
Redcped, your wait is over. Feast your eyes on the 1945 Philadelphia Athletics, a team that lost 98 games and a heap of mediocrity if ever there was one.

You’ve got one decent hitter (Estalella) and one decent pitcher (Berry), but almost nothing else worth rostering.

To make matters worse, the gaping hole you have at SS will get no help from these bums, who offer you only the truly dreadful Ed Busch and the equally inept Bobby Watkins. And as the cherry on top… you still don’t have a backup who plays 3B as his primary position.

Enjoy!

Please enjoy the 1965 Houston Astros - well before JR Richard, Phil Niekro, or the 1980 NLDS tragedy.
The big goal was to inspire second-guessing your decision to forgo round 1 starting pitching, so no one with 150+ IP would be in your top 5…
I don't like giving you Morgan, but it is hard to justify his cost relative to your next best 2B. I can tell money will be tight!
There is a good reliever at 40k/IP - I would love to see the trade offs from spending 3m on him.
You're gonna have to use the cheap guys to get 6 players here, but most cost MORE than your current options. You will probably have to downgrade starters round out the 6.
Lots of holes to fix in round 4…..

I'm seeing red.

I admit the pick for jpeterso is for the benefit of mostly one player, but after such a long wonderful career, and after coming back from so many injuries, I felt he had the right to finish his career playing on the same team as his older brother.

Thanks for all the memories Willie.

Happy to join your 1975 Padres with the 65 Giants. Its good to see Juan ( pause to wipe tear from my eye) and the two great Willies of the era back together again.

Mr. Summerfield,

Looking at your roster, you have SP's that are 8, 1o and 11M. Have. a decent 1B and 3 decent, well priced OFs.

So I will give you a team that will help you reduce some SP $$. They have a $6.2 and $6.3M SP. Only issue with them are there 1.41 and 1.42 WHIPs. So I hope you find room for them.

The only hitter worth rostering is Flagsted, but your other three are better.

So enjoy the 1935 Boston Red Sox

I am going to give you one of my all-time favorites in Mickey Mantle and one of his World Series teams: 1955 New York Yankees. However, they may not give you much help.

You could keep dagger candidate Mantle at $10.1 million if you want to allocate a big chunk of cap to him. After Mantle, there's Yogi but you already have Hartnett, and there's McDougald but you already have Herman. You could keep McDougald as your #2 second baseman and play him at 3B, but then you're giving up Stan Hack. The rest of the Yankees bench will help you about as much as your '55 O's might contribute.

The Yanks would give you two decent starters in Ford and Turley, but you already have 5 decent starters (4 from the Cubs and 1 from the O's). The Yanks bullpen as Crash Davis would say is "meat."

Good luck and Mick for MVP!
