Left Handed Specialists Topic

I have had a left handed specialist listed in dozens of games over my 2+ seasons here, and he's never been used. Is there any secret to getting him to be used?

specialists are always last on the hierarchy. if you want to get the specialists used you have to list your entire bullpen as LH specialist or RH specialist. this can be effective with the right relievers but if you didn't plan to do it then i would advise just ditching the specialist setting.

I once tried a cheap LHH specialist with good splits and was disappointed sparky never used. I wish they would make a simple tweak to put them ahead of set up, behind everyone else (long relief, mop up, closer).

I think a while back someone had suggested putting ALL relievers on LH and RH specialist. I tried it and I guess it worked okay more or less, though I suck at bullpens more than I do the rest of this game, so it's all relative.

Ah ha that is what I wanted to hear or do not remember reading ---" you have to list your entire bullpen as LH specialist or RH specialist." ... I have used just RHS LHS for two years and works well for me to have Sparky Alg make the decisiobns ... So does OAV come into play with specialists ?

yeah the lowest OAV comes in first (among the lefties or righties)

Really odd that they would even create that setting, and just put them last in the hierarchy, when there are situations designed for lefty specialists where they would easily be at the top of the hierarchy. Feels lazy.

It is lazy but also interesting to me to see the algorithm make the decisions as things happen ... I started doing that because i was disappointed always fiddling with settings of Long or Setup or Closer and feel like I was second guessing like it was a crap shoot (uncertain) ... Now I do not have to say I should have done this or that ... Frees up time it is true and that was a motivation as well

I thought of another way of thinking about it ... If you have Relief Pitchers and you have the Relief Boxes Checked then logically Sparky or the Algorithm WILL Choose According to OAV A Relief Pitcher ... If Every RP is RHS or LHS Then they could only be Chosen and it be a Generic Setting Then Eliminating Long Setup Closer but Not MopUp as that would be last in Hierarchy (which is why you are only supposed to mix MopUp with Specialists) [Having Long A then means that that RP Would Always come in First as Relief !!! 2016 Clayton Kershaw or SomeOne With 100 Plus Innings/162)] --- I Have Every Pitcher Set at Innings Available ANY SP "90" and RP "85" Fatigue ... Usually SP are 90 Plus + 115 (Example) and "4" Pull with a 5 Later if Deemed Necessary ... RP 10 + Plus beginning with Pull 4 or 5 ... So a 1992 Cal Eldred would be 10 55 "4" ... Accordingly ThereFore and this is this interesting part to be figured out Sparky Alg Will Choose in a Particular Inning a RP Based Upon Who was Available and OAV ...
