I remember the early days of yahoo fantasy basketball, 20 years ago, we had a similar process for autodraft (rank all the players), but at least the system had some mechanisms for ensuring that teams got decent balance when everything was said and done. And even then, teams were often badly lopsided with regard to positions. If this process is totally blind with regard to balancing positions, it's more luck than skill, imo.
And since WIS seriously dings you for playing guys out of position, I don't see how this doesn't end up potentially screwing at least a few of the teams once the "auto-draft" is completed.
Which isn't to say we shouldn't do it. But, like the blind auction, I just see it as more luck-based (in that some teams could get hosed in terms of positional eligibility), and therefore not a great metric for who is best at WIS.
