Designing DITR Question Topic

The true projection of the player should be under 60, not based on current overall.

also, one thing you can do to make it a bit easier is to draft players with projections over 60 as the filler pieces. That way you have either players that are “too good” to get Ditr or that are candidates for the bump.

The guys running WIS, seemed to mess with several things and messed up a lot of stuff. Haven't had a decent ditr in many seasons, when I use to get at least on decent one each year. Doesn't seem worth the time anymore now to try and set it up for better ones because they never come anymore. Most drafts seem to suck now too.

yeah, it can be a lot of unrewarding work to try to game it. Just to add: from what I have read the guess for the overall rating ceiling is closer to 54, 55, maybe 56...
Likely 55.
@tlowster … are we talking 55 as their max OVR at the time they receive the bump, or 55 as their max true potential OVR?

Seems like a few folks are blaming bad RNG on WiS making a bunch of changes. DITR is working fine for me as evidenced by Greg, Justin, and Kimera, They wont be HoF but all three should be solid big league contributors. Three guys in two seasons for the same team. Makes up for a lot of dud seasons but for as long as I can remember, each year always has just a handful of guys that will make the bigs. It's all just a bunch of dice rolls.

True potential of 55. So, either save your high budget IFA/Draft scouting boards or use a high advanced scouting.

When drafting- I rank DITR prospects after guys I think can actually play in the ML.

1) top overall players/pitchers
2) utility guys (high defensive SS, good defensive catchers, guys with good platoon splits or high power)
3) DITR guys (I use guys with sub-60 overall projected ratings and markup above 75 then rank according to talent).

On top of that I have picked up IFAs with those same characteristics for cheap. Some good ones I've lucked into with some hard work:

Player Profile: Dorian Collins - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Player Profile: Torey Castillo - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Player Profile: Gerald Brinkley - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Player Profile: Scott McFarland - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Player Profile: Audy Maxwell - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Player Profile: Giovanni Schimpf - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

I have several more waiting in the minors and have traded away some for more talent. It takes a lot of work but it can absolutely pay off.

That last part is key -- it takes a lot of work. Even if people know all the secrets, the amount of work it takes to get good ones is a grind. I'd bet most people would decide not to put in the work after a little trial and error. You gotta get the best candidates on your team, then you gotta find a way to get those players the best opportunity to get hit with ditr. Then you still have to develop the player as if he's a regular prospect. If after all that, all you get is a 18th man on the roster type, most folks might think it is not worth the effort.

"You gotta find a way to get those players the best opportunity to get hit with ditr"... please note, I'm not disagreeing. I actually do agree. But I've had, twice that I can remember clearly, two players get DITR'd who had played almost not at all that season. Yes, they were on the active roster but they were backups. One was a rookie league C who had zero at-bats, swear to god.
Sometimes you get your DITRs and you go "THAT guy?"

That's exactly what I mean -- it's not just getting good-ditr-candidate players on your team, it's getting players the playing time needed, it's coaching, it's using the proper promtion strategies, limiting injuries and it's making sure those low-makeup-rating players aren't on your team. It's a lot of work. I likely spend much more time than most other hbd players because I manually run my minor leagues to make sure all of this is in tip-top. Most people dont/won't do that.

Some people might see some of my ditr success and think, "must be nice", but it is a lot of sweat. Trust me.

It doesn't matter anymore. The guys running this now have ruined this part of the game, too. I used to get at least one decent DITR most seasons, but not the system just generates garbage no matter what kind of prospects you collect to make your chances better. Haven't had a diamond make ML in any league in a few seasons. Just like the guys running this have ruined, injuries. Guys never fully heal anymore.
