Ok, this is a perfect example of the ridiculousness of this walk issue. PM2 game. Jeff Robinson is pitching. In real life he had a 3.15 BB/9 but doesn’t necessarily normalize well with a 3.79 BB/9#, but it’s still under 4 and he also has a normalized 5.40 K/9# in a $70M league.

1st inning

J.Robinson enters the game to pitch.
V.Coleman hits a Texas League single to CF.
DP J.Robinson throws a wild pitch and all runners advance.
R.Grossman takes ball four. 11 BB/100# vs 17 K/100#
DP A.Dunn walks. 16 BB/100# vs 28 K/100#
DP J.Clark hits a flyball grand slam to LCF.
E.Longoria takes ball four. 14 BB/100# vs 16 K/100#
DP B.Crawford smokes a line drive single to RF.
DP C.Biggio swings and misses for strike 3.
DP R.Hodges walks. 15 BB/100# vs 17 K/100#
DP R.Reuschel crushes a grand slam to CF.
V.Coleman is drilled in the knee by a pitch.
DPSB V.Coleman steals 2B.
SB V.Coleman steals third base.
II R.Grossman pops out to 1B.
A.Dunn grounds out to 1B.

That is 4 BB, 1 K, 4 H, 1 HBP, 1 WP, 2 HRA in the 1st inning. He pitches another 2 2/3 innings before reaching his pitch count. To his 1st inning numbers, he adds: 4 BB, 3 K, and 2 H. All in all he allowed 10 runs, all earned. He was not fatigued, starting at 100%. All 4 batters walked in the 1st had higher strikeout ratios than walk ratios.

He has walked 5 or more batters in 7 of 13 games, for a total of 45 walks, or 6.4 per game and 10.89 BB/9. The other 6 produced 18 walks, or 3 per game and 4.29 BB/9. The latter is what I would expect in a middling-to-off year. Maybe one or possibly two 5+ BB games mixed in so far. But more than half averaging 10.89 BB/9??? That seems ridiculous to me.

What are your opponents normalized BB/9?
7/5/2023 10:18 PM
For my opponents pitching staff? Reuschel pitched against us at 100% and he’s at 1.62 BB/9#. He threw 74 pitches in 4 innings and walked 4, which is an anomaly as it is more than he gave up in the last 3 games combined and the most he’s given up in any game this season. He was followed by a 91% Belcher with a 1.80 BB/9# and gave up one walk in 1 1/3rd. Scott Atchison followed him at 100%. He’s at a 1.86 BB/9# and pitched 1 2/3rd striking out 3 and allowing no walks or hits. An 88% Jose Rosado pitched the last 2 innings, giving up 2 hits. He has a 2.00 BB/9#.

Would someone be able to clarify how the top 24 owners are determined for the second round? What is the formula for total wins across the 6 leagues + playoff success? First tournament for me so I'm not sure.

Points will be awarded based on wins and playoffs success. Points are awarded this way:

Regular season wins = 1 point each
Make playoffs = 2 additional points
Playoff wins = 1 point each
Wins Wildcard round = 2 additional points
Wins LCS = 2 additional points
Wins World Series = 5 additional points

One of them against me.

I had a less fun cycle, going 2-4 with every loss by one run and all decided in the opponent's last at-bat.

56% of my 120m team’s losses have been by one run.

Speaking of one run losses, we've "improved" to 42-71 overall. Yes, we are averaging more than a one run loss per cycle.

In our 100M league, d_rock97 has 31 losses and is 8-17 in 1-run games. So that's 55% of his losses.

In a typical league, roughly 25% of all games are decided by 1-run. The lower cap leagues (which are generally lower scoring) results in slightly more than 25%. Higher cap leagues are less than 25%.

That league hasn’t heard the end of it with my 2020 Devin Williams. I legitimately expected a sub-1 ERA with how strict that theme is. Instead he allows a run per appearance
