On to the draft and whalers screw pick: I gift you the 1936 Boston Red Sox. Your '66 Giants were a solid pick where you likely will have 7 quality players on your final roster. The '46 Pirates provide you with below average hitting and a couple of average pitchers. The '36 BoSox give you a handful of good players but most are at the same positions as your '66 Giants. You have some choices but at a cost.

You could roster a $7.5M Jimmie Foxx, but then you already have a good version of McCovey. At 3B Billy Werber is serviceable but then you wouldn't keep Jim Ray Hart. Rick Farrell could be your catcher but you would trade average for Haller's power. I don't think you can keep both. Doc Cramer could benefit you in the OF, but he's not an all star.

For pitching, the Giants give you 3 good starting pitchers with Marichal at $12.4M, but is he a keeper at that cost? The '36 BoSox give you two quality starters in Wes Farrell and Lefty Grove but both are over $8M. The rest of the staff isn't going to help you.

Good luck and have fun.

As a lifetime Red Sox fan, even I am not thrilled with this pick. Well played midknight.

I’m most of the way through my write up of my pick for calhoop, and my home internet went out. So to keep the draft moving, I’m assigning you the 1936 Chicago White Sox. Details coming soon.

OK, calhoop, my internet is back so here's the full thing ... So far you have the 1936 Pirates and 1956 KC A's. The Pirates have 3 really good hitters, but a tad pricey. The A's don't bring you too much, but they do have a few OF you can use and a tolerable 3B. Neither team has any good catcher offense. Neither has a backup at 3B or SS. And between them there's not much more than about 650-700 rosterable innings, though honestly no studs there at all. The best ERC# you've got is a 2.75 and a 2.76, and combined they're only 300 innings.

So, my goals for you with this pick were (in no particular order):

-Don't help your pitching situation
-Try not to give you any catchers who can hit
-Try not to fill your hole at 2B
-Try not to give you any backups at 3B/SS
-Give you a team whose best players create redundancy where you're already good.

I could second-guess myself all day on which team I went with ultimately, but I'm going to present you with the 1936 Chicago White Sox. At first glance, you'd say, hey, this team was 81-70 and carried 75M in salary. They might be all right. And you're not totally wrong there, at least on the surface.

Let's start with pitching. They do have 35M worth of it, but there isn't a single good one. The best ERA on the team is 4.63. There's one guy with a WHIP under 1.50, and it's 1.49. So be my guest and use as many of them as you like.

Now, on the hitting side you've got just 12 players to pick from. Luke Appling is a fine SS, but he costs $9.2M. You already have a $7M Arky Vaughan there anyway. There's also a $7.5M 1B in Zeke Bonura. You already have a couple solid 1B who cost much less, too. The ChiSox have a couple decent enough outfielders, though the A's also have guys who are about as good and you've got to roster 6 of them, too. The best of the Sox OF can't field, nor can the best of the A's bunch.

Also, the Sox have no backups at 3B or SS so you still have only options that cost over $2M at both those positions. And their catchers can't hit. There is one solid 2B to fill a hole you had, so I'm not totally mean or anything.

Seems to me you're running out of spots for your good Pirates hitters. I'm sure you'll figure it out, but not without some painful choices. It won't be easy to find that 4th team that fills all the holes you've got left and be dagger-proof there. Good luck!

Question: For my '36 Senators, there were several low dollar players that did not load from the team load because of the 25 man roster limit. These players have qualifying seasons in WIS with the Senators (i.e., 50+ ABs). Can I use them?

When I load the 36 Senators I see 22 players.

Those are the only ones usable.

Only the ones that load when you load them as a team.

sorry late.. i had a wake/funeral and didn't bring my laptop.

lennyistall has been gifted the 1956 Cubs. they do have a $5.5M banks... and some guys who can play D.. really it just adds more mediocre position players and hr prone pitchers to your possible roster. good luck.

Jeffc you may have the 1976 SD Padres, whose best player is SP Randy Jones. But at 9.2 mil I hope he is too expensive for this cap

3dayrotation gets 46 Indians and 12.9 Mil Bob Feller

We should confirm that he understands he is picking this team FOR Fatguy and not for himself.

I’m waiting for that confirmation before picking for eman.
