I did forget about The Nutty Professor. I never though of The King of Comedy to be a comedy at all.

It is a dark comedy. I admit it is a stretch to call it a comedy in the traditional sense.

If I have to replace it I’m going with Banannas for the translator scene alone. It kills me.

I don’t feel good that The Producers is not in my list.
I prefer the original but there was some great new music in the second.
There should be a musical of just the play with all of the combined music.

Movies Critics Did Not Love But I Did
Under Construction

1. Ishtar - My friend and I played hooky and we laughed out loud. I loved it the second time I saw it too.

2. Let’s Make Love - An under appreciated Marilyn movie and what is not to love.

3. Hudson Hawk - Smart and witty and loads of innovation. Criminally marginalized.

4. Cocktail - Early Tom Cruise. I’ve seen this movie twice. Very entertaining.

5. The Village - Shamalayn and the master is absurdly maligned. Great plot and acting and the twist is worth waiting for.

6. Green Lantern - Block out the reputation. It is one of the best superhero movies. Ryan Reynolds is perfect and the plot is very plausible. Phenomenal but not overbearing special effects. Much fun.

7. Green Hornet - A Seth Rogen project. If you liked Kick *** you will like Green Hornet.

8. Identity - One of the twistiest twisty movie. Horror and Terror and Psychological and Intelligent. John Cusak showcase.

9. The Family Man - It isn’t crushed by critics but gets average reviews. I think it is a classic like Groundhog Day. IMO Nick Cage is up there way up there with Brando and Pacino and DiNero.

10. Rocky 5 - Just because no in the ring action that does not mean it isn’t a very dependable Rocky movie.

11. Simone - An Al Pacino movie that is prescient.

12. Hook - Even Steven Spielberg believed the critics. Robin Williams excels in this Peter Pan tale.
It is always being streamed. Very enjoyable.

13. Blast From The Past - gets mixed/ average reviews. It was an oversight from my 25 fave comedies. It never fails to entertain from scene to scene.

14. Last Action Hero - fun!

15. Rocky Horror Picture Show - I guess I saw it at least 30 times usually buzzed and f the critics.

16. The Wolfman -2010 with Sir Anthony Hopkins. It was savaged by critics and not popular either.
The best review was 2.5*/4 by Roger Ebert and it went downhill from there.
I am here to tell you that it is the best werewolf movie and 4*/4. Fabulous imagery and plot perfect and believable and Hopkins is invested. It is sickening that this movie was not lauded.

17. The Majestic - 2001 - Jim Carrey. Only Roger Ebert loved it giving it 3.5/4 while it was very poorly received elsewhere. He isn’t always right but he usually was I say at least 90%.
Boy was Roger right about this box office hindinberg.
Simply put this dramady Romady is one of my favorite movies. Jim Carrey gets blacklisted in the 50s and has a car accident and gets amnesia and ends up misidentified in a small town. Quality from start to finish and watchable multiple times. A lot of heart.
Frank Capra would have loved this movie.
If you see this movie you will love it.

18. The Bothersome Man -2006 Norwegian.
This movie actually was solidly reviewed internationally but nobody knows of this movie.
It is sometimes available thru TCM. This with The Tenant are my 2 favorite surreal upsetting mind bending movies. Existential on the highest plane.
I see they speak if it being dystopian but I thought it was a take on the afterlife.
This is an unforgettable movie that you will never get out of your head or your mind.

19. The Shining - reviled by nitwits when it came out.
Wiser minds have prevailed. A masterpiece.

I too was thinking about that absolutely but it has gained overwhelming popularity for so many years but that is a good one to mention.

I’m saying that the critics are wrong about the movies on my list.
The movies do not suck.

This was the spirit of what I am getting at. Zoolander was a stupid movie...and I was entertained regardless.
