Do people with a "whenever" signing preference sign in Period 1 sometimes?

I just looked in Chapel and Benis's guide. I says there is 50% chance of them signing.

Just FYI I am not confident this change was ever made. In Iba D1 right now, 34/42 recruits with "whenever" preference have signed and there are still two cycles remaining in P1.

It's not 50%. Their willingness to sign can be triggered any time, and is not weighted at all early or late. So it can fire "whenever". Since there are more cycles in the first period, and I think (but I'm not sure) they stay willing to sign once it fires regardless of whether anyone is ready to sign them or not, it makes sense that whenever recruits are going to tend to go off the board before the second session. I've estimated fewer than a quarter with offers make it to the 2nd session, so trail's sample would fit.

I ran some numbers early on into the new HD version. So a few years ago.
Sampled 1500 whenever guys that signed in D1.

Of the guys that were considering a D1 program during the early session, around 91% of the Whenever guys that were leaning one way actually signed in the early session.

I've always considered Whenever as Early or By End Of Period 1. Looks like those stats back that up.

I typically put it closer to 70%. That's my operating assumption based on my own experience with Whenevers and conversations I've had with friends.

In Allen the first session of recruiting is wrapping up.

23 "whenever" guys have signed with D1. 2 guys are considering D1 but haven't signed.

23 of 25 (92%) have signed with one cycle remaining. I'll stick with previous estimate of 91%
