I think my draft is off to a good start, which as has been mentioned is largely just a result of taking players who went later than they should have (and manifesting top-five pick energy into the world). No doubt applies to Whiteside and Kemp.

I was afk for the whole weekend - Spencer, if you're looking for a new weird subreddit, r/ultimate is up there - so I mostly just went off of a small shortlist I drew up Friday morning. Taking 2 premium PGs instead of just picking one was always the plan as long as the right guys fell. But I do feel good that even with MJ/Whiteside/Kemp to start, I've addressed threes and don't have any huge holes to plug.

Kemp was the highest player on my board for a long time. I have him firmly as a middle of the second rounder and I was screaming at my screen as pick by pick went by of worse players than him going. I passed him because I "didn't need the usage, he makes no sense with Dame and Admiral" ........ then I picked Kobe.

Guarantee might not be the right word. I just find that you 7 are more likely to maximize your 12 picks than most.

I have an excel sheet that I can move around players to see what creates the best team numbers but even with that I find it very difficult to see the full picture of what my potential team options are.

I thought Gasol, Pierce and Wright we all excellent picks.

mptrey has the 6th best scoring average of all time. jkaye24 is 9th. So there are a lot of sharks out there.

I believe you thought I had a strong draft last time as well. I have to do a better job though of putting the teams together this time or I’m sure I’ll finish in the bottom third again.

These past few rounds have been brutal with my emotions. Thought I was getting Zo just to see him get taken. Thought Javale was gonna call just to see him right before. Like six dudes I had some hope they might fall to me in round 8 have already gone. Big oof.

The curse of picking 1 is knowing how long you wait until you come around again. "Oh, he's the perfect guy" is wasted energy because he and the next 10 guys you feel that way about are going to be taken.

I almost took Kemp at the end of round 2 and really started to get excited that I might still get him in round 3.

I may have over corrected on Kemp. I've become so afraid of big TOWEL players early I don't even look at him. But he is a proven winner and if you can manager the fouls and TO's around him, hard to stop.

Set your target minutes 10% higher so when he fouls out in the 2nd quarter and you'll still be fine

the fouls are a small price to pay for 5 usable seasons of 90+ d and amazing blk% in the late 7th...great value
