I'm having a good time. Discord is fun, forums are dead.

I need to get back into the Discord. I'm having fun playing. It would be nice if they made some upgrades/tweaks and promoted it a bit. I also work the guys who built these games so they ask about what's going on with it quite a bit.

Yeah, it's been dead for a long time. There were some glimmers of hope, but they quickly faded. My interest comes and goes, and right now it's more in the "goes" category. Kinda just going through the motions and keeping the lights on. It's just become a habit at this point.

I was lucky enough to win my 1st D1 championship and get hired at an A+ baseline school. Those were my 2 big goals when I came back to this game many years ago. Maybe I need a new challenge or something to pique my interest. I just don't want more than 2 teams and I've worked really hard to get where I am (UConn/Duke) so I don't want to jump ship for a D2/D3 rebuild or whatever.

I'll probably keep playing, but not because the game is super exciting or anything. I just enjoy hanging out with the coaches in my conferences and feeling the satisfaction of a solid recruiting class when they happen.

I enjoy the game but I’ll agree with others that I fall in and out. During my downs, I’ve straight up asked CS to remove me from teams mid season and nearly left my longest tenured program. During my ups, I’m on discord talking to 5-10 coaches at any given time.

As of now, I’m in a weird mix of high/low. I’m planning to drop Rupp in 2 seasons and Knight after this season. Biggest reason for that is lost battles becoming draining, why would I put effort into a game that is draining? I’m on a 2/15 run in Knight with like 12 as the favorite, 0/8 in Tark with 7 as favorite, and 0/2 in Rupp with both 50/50. The most fun in this game is winning a big battle or a big NT game.. tough to win the latter with at least some of the former (not always, my recent LSU title had 0 won battles on the roster).

On the flip side, there’s always a new challenge. Coaching in the MEAC in Tark, coaching in like PR or Hawaii, coaching a zone team, etc. I just joined D2 NAAA Phelan and it’s been a blast after 1 season.

My biggest complaint is WIS putting on a show of a plan - take firings for example - and not following through. They lay it all out, make edits, gather all this feedback.. and nothing. Remember the updates they said they’d be making every 2 weeks? Haven’t seen one since the first release. The app/updated UI and roadmap release? They keep pushing it back. I’m not blaming the developers in that since I know they’re busy but it’s frustrating nonetheless.

I can relate to a lot of this. And definitely don't blame the developers. I genuinely think they care, but are being forced to work on SportsHub projects instead of WIS. As always, it comes down to ownership and the bottom line. Why invest time/money in WIS when it's been proven to turn some sort of profit for many years now? If it ever doesn't turn a profit, this game will quickly go away overnight.

HD should set up early season charity tourneys. I used to create them in Crum and Phelan.

I had 4 team mini tourneys set in gameslots 3 4 and 5. And each team would face each other once.

First i started with the Maui Classic, Great Alaska Shootout, Battle 4 Atlantis, and couple of others.

Later i chose actual charities to name the tourneys-- St Jude Tourney... Wounded Warrior Classic... Guide Dog Tourney... American Red Cross Invitational...

I asked each member to throw a few bucks at whichever charity tourney they played in. i would let the owners pick their tourney.

Um those numbers are awful, not sure what you are smoking. Time and time again we can look at the numbers and see it was nothing but a spectacular failure besides being the only game on the market keeping it afloat and top coaches playing for free and yet people delusional make up incorrect facts to say it was a complete and giant disaster

So D1 numbers are only back to roughly pre update numbers which required a job process update to make it easier to get to D1 and nuked d2 and d3 populations to get those d1 numbers just back to pre update numbers 7 years later.

Comparing the 4 worlds you posted:

Tark + 12 D1 -52 D2 -14 D3 -54 total

Yea great D1 numbers lmao it's been a total success. It took 7 years to get basically the same d1 populations and cut d2 and d3 populations while in those 7 years seeing a peak reduction of over 35% human coached teams dropped

the mental gymnastics used to defend the update is just always one of the most entertaining part of playing this game.

I’d propose 3 ideas, 2 of what I think are pretty small fixes:

1-i’d have 3 non overlapping pools of recruits for d1, d2, d3. IMO this would long term increase interest in d2 & d3. Right now recruiting in d3 is near impossible & the hardest to do of the 3 worlds, the opposite of how it should be. Imo of course.

2-I’d develop a modern advanced stats package similar to synergy used by modern college coaches, all nba teams, and most nba analysts. This would appeal to the nerd / stats / game players segment that the game originally appealed to. I have 99% confidence Tarik would do this, it fits right in with the bones of the original game.

3-I’d put one special fix into d1 that nobody would like, including me, but would 100% answer the question who actually is best at hc’ing. It would make the d1 game a lot harder for top coaches lol, which is why I’d do it for d1 only. Plus, my idea is exactly how real d1 works vs d2 and d3. I never have exactly verbalized this idea, because it would hurt me as a hc. but if whoever is in charge implemented my first two ideas, I’d be willing to help implement idea #3 lol.

but seriously, those first two ideas would help and aren’t very hard to do.

I’m also in a bit of an HD funk for some reason. Been really busy so I’ve missed/messed up the latest rounds of recruiting for a few of my teams to the point where I’m like should I just drop them. But then recently had a really great almost title run recently which you’d think would pull me back in.

Discord is fine, but really hard to follow if you’re not checking it everyday. I miss the activity of the forums.

Think it was top who was keeping track of titles won by coach/team - him not being around anymore is a bummer.
