I was very close to picking Marques over Horford. Marques's top 2 seasons are better than Horford's. However, I think Horford's seasons 3-5 are stronger, and I also thought I needed some threes from the SF position because Simmons and my starting frontcourt contribute zero of them.

I had Marques high up on my board - I ultimately passed because my build wasn’t perfect for him, and I think that’s part of the reason he usually goes a bit later than he ranks on my list…you need to be able to afford good (not great) D, low/no 3s at SF, and average rebounds at SF in order to justify him…if you can, then he’s great. And I don’t mean that with an ounce of sarcasm. He’s really good, just an odd shaped puzzle piece.

Kyle Anderson in the 5th is such a boring pick, but he does what I need him to do, and I like the big picture of Harden/SloMo/Horace/Pau/Artis as my main 5

I think that looks like a strong five dBKC. But will they be able to keep the usage up when Harden is out?

Thanks! That’s part of the reason I pivoted to higher usage big men than last season (Artis and Pau instead of Tyson and Favors). I probably won’t have the same high usage backup PG as last season, but I feel like a normal usage PG could do just fine playing with Artis/Pau/Horace and their similar usage backups.

Oh I still think it is dumb. At the end of last season I said it was my worst pick and I still think it was. I just ended up with WAY more minutes than I usually do after four founds. I am usually one of the 2-3 lowest minutes coaches minutes wise. This season I could afford to do it by 9 times out of 10 I would not recommend it.

Jerry Lucas has been my guy a few times in a row. Bummed he is going somewhere else.

I am having major regrets taking Marion in the 3rd. I do not regret passing on Pippen because I just hate him so much for his role in ruining my 1990's that if he never ends up on my roster I'm ok with it. Marion does a few things well but he has sort of handcuffed me in what I will have to do in the future to cover my flaws.

agreed. Marion in the 3rd is great. In the second I took Stockton over Moses and my 3rd option was Marion. I think I like him more than Nance.... it's close.

i spent a good amount of time debating between marion and nance

marion probably makes more sense with mj since he adds some 3s...would have been fun to run a 02-03/88-89 backcourt on one team

but the 97/98% sf bugs the hell out of me and nance is such a stud on defense...really couldnt have went wrong either way

great summary of marques...he can sink you on the defensive glass or your floor spacing if put on the wrong team

after i started with deandre/artis last season, marques was definitely a target...very happy to get him in the 5th

passing on nash was tough...i think i was still a little scarred from the terrible nash/klay/shaq team i put together a few seasons ago

but that was putting him in a postion to fail from the jump playing next to klay...if nash cant play next to mj, when would i draft him? am i done with steve nash in savage? he used to be my guy...it feels kinda sad

at some point the insane shooting and ast% has to count for something right?

I can already tell this is going to be one of those crazy hard to figure out how to put together teams. I have 2 Noahs who can play SF & 3 C-Woods who can play SG. And lots of usage.

One SL right now:

113.6% usg, 57.8% efg, 151.3% crb, 63.5% ast, 12.3% tov, 17.0% stocks, 290 3pm, 69.4 def. That's not stacking best seasons, either, but it's the only full SL I can make that makes any sense right now haha For that reason, not sweating the low defense or getting excited about literally anything else.
