Is anyone willing to share their opinion/advice on what works best in this game on late game with a lead situations?
In the past if I'm running up tempo and ahead in the last few minutes, I have gone slow down, which I would do in real life. However, I felt like I gave up an inordinate number of leads late. So this time around I've gone with staying up tempo with the idea that if its working to this point with the sim, just stay with it.
That said, and I realize it is a severely limited sample size, I have already blown a 7 point lead with one minute left and an 11 point lead with 3 minutes left.
Is there any way to get it right?
Half court
I go slow down. The exact lead and minutes may vary, it's always at least a 10 point lead and 3 minutes - sometimes more. But the basic concept should be that you want to limit the opponents ability to make shots. And slow down should turn over less - but also make less shots so maybe a wash there. I read pbp sometimes and I'll say if I have it set to say 3 minutes and 12 points and there's 2 minutes left and my team puts up an up tempo shot in 6 seconds I get ******. I've never analyzed the minutes or leads very closely - but I still say slow down is the way to go.
I wonder if the leads you lost in the past were to good 3 point shooting teams? If you D is set to 0 balanced against a good 3 point shooting team that starts launching with several minutes less - sometimes they start going in. It probably just feels this way, but I swear teams shoot a better 3 pt percentage late in the 3 point offense.
