Good stuff rob. You forget to bump your own team up a couple of tiers to account for being coached by the Savage GOAT :)

I mostly agree with your review of my team, except I liked the Kidd pick better than Roundfield. I was really conflicted on all my last few picks so not surprised they were your least favorite; but candidly it's a good thing if my worst picks are all the guys at the end who won't play too much.

One question: if you don't like McConnell, who else would you prefer to back up Kidd? IMO McConnell fits really well in that role, and has some really solid seasons with decent D. Is it the turnovers and lack of threes that turn you off for him?

Still surprised by your dislike of Covington and Anderson. But damn my team is certifiably unusable.
It really seems like Rob values usage way higher than I do. Most of the lower usage guards get mentioned in worst picks pretty consistently when my metrics say they are insanely more valuable when you find the usage elsewhere.

Then again, I’ve won this thing zero times and he’s won it five so maybe I need to start drafting meh shooting, high usage guards instead of great shooting guards.

Tim Duncan
Dwyane Wade
Horace Grant
Gerald Wallace
Willis Reed
Andrew Bogut
Kemba Walker
Jamario Moon
Paul Pressey
Joe Ingles
James Worthy
John Havlicek

Tim Duncan + D Wade = Great Start
Horace Grant + Gerald Wallace = Amazing low usage D up the middle.
After that you hit more efficiency, defense, 3s with Ingles.
I think this team will make some playoffs.
Tim Duncan is such a nice pick late in the first.
Are your only efficient 3s coming from Joe Ingles?

Julius Erving

Amare Stoudemire
Paul Millsap
Bob Lanier
Wes Unseld
Lauri Markkanen
Tyus Jones
Brandon Ingram
Jonathan Isaac

Extremely good defense here.
Erving + Wallace + Stockton is nice - great all-around player followed by literally top-notch rebounding and then top-notch assist play and all have great D.
Is there enough shooting efficiency? Going to build it and see.
OK after building it this team is really good - these are just not my guys.
I think you did very well going back and forth between your team needs. Crazy defense, big time assists obviously and the shooting is good.
This is not a team I want to play against.

Damian Lillard
Bam Adebayo
Montrezl Harrell
Emeka Okafor
Mark Price
Larry Nance Jr.
Jarred Vanderbilt
Nick Anderson
Arvydas Sabonis
Tyreke Evans
Muggsy Bogues

This team would be so nice if Dame knew how to play D.
I really like these first three picks - obviously there is Dame’s defense, but he is elite and I love both DeAndre and Bam in these leagues - efficiency, defense, and rebounding.
Have to be happy with the rebounds and shooting here.
Massive efficiency, probably enough defense, all the guys we always draft in these leagues.
This team is a weapon.

Kevin McHale
Charles Barkley
Luka Doncic
Kyle Anderson
Dale Davis
Pascal Siakam
Robert Covington
Anderson Varejao
Marcin Gortat
Brandon Roy
Zelmo Beaty
Aaron Gordon

Take this with a grain of salt because I suck, but I’ve had way too much experience with these first three picks and I’ve never had any luck - I also had McHale and Barkley together in ODL and I was terrible.
The shooting efficiency is very good on this team.
I find it hard to believe there is enough defense here.
The rebounding seems just alright, but Luka does help with that for sure.
I think this is the bottom team of the four I am grading - you hit on some good guys in the middle, but the defense just isn’t there - I’ve lived that life far too many times.
Curious to see how our teams stack-up against each other record wise (yours better most likely).

I don't think that is the right read on it. There are a ton of low usage guys who I rate really highly. I look for very specific things in my low usage players though. I am generally very confused about the sorts of things people target in their low usage players, it is pretty different from the attributes I look for but I am only going to tip my hand so much.

Congrats to 24kpyrite for winning his first ever "shortest pick length title" with an average pick length of 6 minutes and 25 seconds!

About half way to two thirds of the way we were cruising to shattering the fastest draft by 6 minutes per pick, but well off at the end and ended up about a minute slower per pick than the fastest Savage draft. Still 50:21 per pick is exceptionally solid, anything under an hour is decent I think. Nice work guys.

It's pretty funny that you think I have a strategy besides try not to suck. I'll try to prove you wrong for the first time ever about my ****** teams haha.

Damn Rob I definitely thought gerry's team was looking good seems like you disagree.

Edit: I forgot how much you hate DeAndre Jordan

Something like a GPII/Konchar platoon would be cool. Those are two low end usage guys I rate very highly and it looks like you have the passing to eat the dropoff in AST%. Delon Wright would be my first choice if you wanted to use a higher round pick. Cheeks was available super late and that would have been pretty sweet.

Damn tell me how you really feel. Yeah my defense isn’t fantastic. Off my prelim teams which don’t mean a whole lot my defense is between a 60-71. My teams have normally been between a 66-75 so definitely low. But I believe you really understand what Barkley and McHale are in this league. My teams EFG are between 54.95 and 55.74 last season I only had 2 teams above 55 and both won 50+ and won playoff series’. Rebounding should mostly be on the high end imo.

thank you for doing this and good luck!

Yeah I was considering Cheeks in R9 (midge took him right in front of me - but I don't think I was going to take him anyway) but have always been spooked by his crazy low rebounding.

Konchar is another guy I like a lot, but I didn't think I could afford to be losing 20-25% ast and 5-10% usage when Kidd is off the floor. Maybe I worry too much about trying to keep consistent levels of stats on the floor when starters are out.

When I draft low usage guys it’s because I feel I have enough usage to not focus on it and can pay more attention to what I need. With Davis, Covington, Anderson I believe they all were very valuable to what I needed. Anderson and convington both have solid defense stats I need around Luka(although Covington can’t always cover) They provide 3s and some rebounding and Anderson even helps with my assists issue.

Davis turned my orebounding numbers into a strength and mostly has solid defense that can sometimes even cover Barkley.

obviously we do and value things differently I’m just surprised our views are so opposed here.

I wasn't prepared for this and I am taken a back. First off, I would like to thank jhsukow and dbkc for creating a text message group for proper notification of my turn to pick. Couldn't have done it without you two!

I think with the right focus, attitude, and giving midge your phone number, we all can beat 385 seconds.

I feel like I proxied more this draft than any other draft. I don't know how much that helped expedite others' experience this draft, but I lost hours of sleep laboring over lists to do so. I probably will never do that again. I can't do that again.
