Alright, I am going to take a shot at evals. I do not have a chewy score and I don't like to predict wins because division drafts through those completely off. I will keep it simple with three categories, Lottery (Non Playoff Teams), Pretenders (Playoff - Not in Title Picture), and Contenders (Chance at Title).
24) seapilots - Moses Malone, Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Oscar Robertson, Al Horford, David West, D’Angelo Russell
I like the Moses and Rodman pairing if you go all in on rebounding the rest of the way. I was ok with Pippen and Oscar in the 3rd and 4th, but that is going to be an expensive starting 4. I lost faith with the Horford pick. He is a fine SF, but now Rodman is playing the 4 and he needs to be at the 3. Seapilots has built some solid squads recently, but this is a Lottery team for me.
23) chewy3344 - James Harden, Hassan Whiteside, Robert Williams, Daniel Gafford, Zion Williamson, Kobe Bryant, Jakob Poeltl
This is just a fun team. A really fun team. Chewy and Ragged build the best Harden teams I have seen. I love the guard backcourt of Harden/Zion/Kobe. Kobe is frowned upon in WIS, but I am a big fan of him coming off the bench, especially in this cap. Then just add a bunch of high efg players that score in the paint. You should be able to maximize the rest of your bench because there have been a plethora of high efg paint seasons dropped recently. This is a Contender for me.
22) steelers821 - Kevin Garnett, Dwyane Wade, Jarrett Allen, Michael Porter, JaVale McGee, Jarred Vanderbilt, Nic Batum
I am trying to figure out this team. I really liked the start of KG and Wade. Maybe my favorite start. I am just trying to figure out if Porter is playing the 3. I think he has to, the more I look at it. I wonder if you overcorrected with on efg with the Porter pick. Maybe an Allen/KG/Porter/Batum/Wade team will work and is enough defense, especially with the short minute 84 def Batum. Defense might struggle a bit when Vanderbilt enters. I go back and forth with this team, but I landed on Pretender.
21) kammeyer - Karl Malone, Tim Duncan, Horace Grant, Danny Green, Robert Parish, Derek Harper, Andre Iguodala
A Malone and Duncan start is a good start. I like throwing Horace Grant in there, although hes not swapping with anybody, but you are finally getting some offensive boards. Green is a nice pick because you needed the 3s and you really didnt need assists. Parish gives you a solid 3 man post, I do not like the Harper pick and you should definitely start AI at PG. I think a better guard than Derek Harper could have landed you in the playoff group. Outside of Harper, you are spending a lot of money, add in Harper and I dont think you have enough to round out a solid rotation. I am going Lottery on this one.
20) 24kpyrite - Hakeem Olajuwon, Paul George, Shawn Marion, John Collins, Tyus Jones, Jonathon Isaac, Ralph Sampson
I always believe I will make the playoffs because there are enough games to make tweaks in the regular reason to grab a few extra wins, but my 3 man post is much worse than kamms. I am not sure if Tyus is a starting PG in this league. I have to hope PG doesnt shoot me out of more than 1 dozen games and I have to hope Sampson might grab some offensive board since Hakeem will get tired of being the only person trying in the starting lineup. At least Hakeem and Sampson have some chemistry going into the season. I am going Pretender.
19) berkelon - Kawhi Leonard, Joel Embiid, Derrick Favors, Eric Bledsoe, Zach LaVine, Arvydas Sabonis, Onyeka Okongwu
I really have liked a lot of berkelon's teams recently. I love the first two rounds. People will shy away from a Kawhi/Embiid start due to the lack of minutes, but there is plenty of money to spend later. Love the Favors pick beside Joel. Not the biggest Bledsoe fan, but I understand why he is drafted. Lavine really surprised me. What I hope is he is your backup PG/SG and then Sabonis backs up Embiid and Okongwu is your starting SF. If that is the rotation, I can buy in, especially since there is a plethora of SF backups you can use behind Okongwu. I am going with my assumptions and labeling you a Pretender.
18) jethroeg - Chris Paul, Julius Erving, Willis Reed, Dikembe Mutombo, Clyde Drexler, Paul Pressey, Hot Rod Williams
You know CP3/Dr J/Hot Rod/Reed/Mutombo is a damn solid defensive team. But add in Pressey and Drexler and now you are playing Drexler at SF, which just will not work. Not enough 3s. Clyde and Pressey could have just been rotated for sharpshooters off the bench and maybe a better SF even though I do like Hot Rod. I do not think this team will be very good. I would really love a live draft with Jethroe. I want to know what goes through that mind of his at times. I think you might have drafted 10,000 guard minutes. I am going Lottery.
17) amerk1180 - Kevin Durant, Charles Barkley, Alonzo Mourning, Steve Nash, Chauncey Billups, Jalen Williams, Alpharay Spacegun
I had no idea Star Lords genitalia was available in the player pool. I liked the start of Durant at SG and Barkley at SF, or even PF. Throw in Mourning and you can play Barkley at PF and his defense is covered. All of a sudden Nash is in there and I said, well usage is covered but the efficiency was too good to pass up on. Then we added Chauncey. Thought to myself, Nash, Billups, and Durant are an interesting pair at guard. Once Durant is off the court, Josh Giddey will out-rebound your guards combined. I didnt understand why you drafted Jalen when you already had 3 guards, even though I like the Jalen season better than Nash and Billups and would start him at PG over the other two. I think this team is like a puzzle, except for you just drafted the borders and you dont have any middle pieces to complete the puzzle. Sorry man, going Lottery on this one.
16) bds9992 - Larry Bird, Clint Capela, Magic Johnson, Otto Porter, Buck Williams, TJ McConnell, Enes Kanter
Lots of interesting pieces here. I just do not see where the defense is coming from. I think if you chase the higher defense Bird, Capela, Otto, and Buck seasons, you are not using their best seasons. But then again if you use those higher defense seasons, you can stretch your position eligibility to really maximize player matchups. I think Otto was a good pick and provided the 3s you need. You should definitely have enough boards. I just do not think there is enough defense at this cap to help you make the playoffs. It is good to have you back in the 52, but I am going Lottery with this team.
15) beloud - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ben Wallace, Nikola Vucevic, Brandon Clarke, Paul Reed, Jamal Murray, JaMycheal Green
it just wouldn't be a beloud team without a crazy high SG rebounding combination. Gotta love the new Shai and the Wallace/Vucevic combo is really nice. A Clarke/Reed combo is a crazy combo at SG. The 23-24 Murray season is a great backup for Shai and adds some additional assistance at SG. Green's 1300 SF season has been a draftable season for a while and can swap with your board lords at SG. Knowing Beloud, he will have a crazy good bench that is deep and will be able to fill out the SF position with plenty of recent season drops. Beloud has built another Contender in the 52.
14) raggedclaws - David Robinson, Damian Lillard, Walker Kessler, Kristaps Porzingis, Anfernee Hardaway, Delon Wright, Gary Payton II
I feel like I have said this about so many teams thus far, but man I love the start here. D-Rob is criminally underrated and pairing him with Lillard is chefs kiss. I love the Kessler and Porzingis seasons, they give you an interesting post combo. I was a little surprised by the Penny pick. I dont mind the 4 man guard rotation, I just was not expecting it. I have no qualms with not drafting a SF. it feels like half the league drafted very little SF minutes at this point. I imagine the starting rotation is Lillard/Payton/Kessler/D-Rob? I like that rotation, I just do not know if I like it as much as the other Contenders so far. I am going Pretender, but I do not like saying it out loud.
13) Midge - Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, Larry Nance, Derrick White, Joakim Noah, Bobby Portis, Ivica Zubac
If there was one pick in this draft that was the most obvious, it was Derrick White. Not saying that it is bad, I love the Derrick White season. AD and Butler are the same guy at different positions. The are great building blocks, but man you were one Lillard pick away from a great start. I love Nance, but I think you should have taken Marion. You needed additional 3s and you didnt draft anyone to swap with Nance. Noah is fine and gives you 3 100 defense players in the starting lineup. But didnt Chewy teach you that defense doesnt win championships? I think this team will succeed in the regular season, probably win its division, but I dont see a contender here. As Sammie would say, Midge you are a Pretender.
12) copernicus - Shaquille O’Neal, Jason Kidd, Chris Boucher, C.J. McCollum, Evan Mobley, Terry Porter, Kevin Love
Not enough boards. All joking aside, I really dont think you have enough boards. Shaq at 12 is just an invitation for a good time. But I wonder if Walton is a better pair than Kidd. Shaq is too lazy to swap positions on defense, so drop Walton in and the boards and defense is covered. Love Boucher, he is a solid SF and great for Shaq. I dont like the Terry Porter pick. I guess that means Kidd is playing a lot at SG, which I guess is fine, but that loses the luster of why Kidd is a good PG, rebounding. Love at the 3 is good for this team and gets the boards back up, but the Porter pick is just blah. I really think you had enough 3s with Kidd/Boucher/CJ/Love, I just wish you would have selected different guards than CJ and Porter since you already had Kidd. I think sometimes when Shaq is drafted the focus is getting 3s. But, I do not think recent success has shown that CJ can be a SG in this league. I am going Lottery with this team.
11) jackedjamie - Dwight Howard, Kevin McHale, Jonas Valanciunas, Mike Conley, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Alex Caruso, Marques Johnson
Double J said give me all the efg with his first 3 picks and I like it. Conley is a great PG and TJD might have been the most sought after pick in this league. This team is highly efficient in the post and at the arc and adds a lot of defense as well. I really can understand every pick you made with the exception of Marques Johnson. With taking him, that pushes McHale back down low for a lot of minutes. In theory it can work with Howard/Jonas across from him, but when Conley/Caruso/Marques/McHale/Either Center is on the court, I think this team might just be another team. I would have rather seen another player that maximizes your strength of efficiency at that point, but 2700 minutes of Marques at SF doesnt take advantage of what you already built. Saying that, you are a good enough governor to make it work. Pretender.
10) samuelyork93 - DeAndre Jordan, Jrue Holiday, Elton Brand, Bob McAdoo, Gary Payton, Malcom Brogdon, Pascal Siakim
Lots of defense in this starting 5. I just do not like starting off with DJ at the 10th spot. I know he has a good history of success in this league, but I would rather have Shaq or AD. Elton is just a third round staple in this league that I love to use. McAdoo dominated in the playoffs for me. It is a solid starting 4. I love GP, but he is not a SG in this league. He does some things really well, but playing SG is not one of him, same can be said for Jrue. Brogdon is a solid backup, but I am not sure when Pascal fits in. Him nor Elton are PF. I think you have too many players that are playing out of their designed positions to be a Pretender, so I am going Lottery.
9) ronsouth1 - Rudy Gobert, Victor Wembanyama, Jayson Tatum, Draymond Green, Manu Ginobili, Jerry West, Larry Sanders
This is an interesting team. Terrifying defense in the post and quite a guard rotation with Tatum/Manu/West. There has been a lot of clean teams thus far, but this team is not one of them. Victor and Draymond provide a lot of things, but I believe they need to be surrounded by players that are not on this team in order for them to succeed. This team is littered with useable players, I just do not see these players combining for a playoff team. Lottery for ron.
That is all I have for now. These are my initial thoughts when looking at the teams, hopefully everyone other than the Contenders prove me wrong.
