Redcped starting team the 59 Orioles left him with a full starting rotation some cheap players and not much else the first screw team was the 69 Indians Sam Mcdowell and a little bit of hittting at Catcher and 1b So my Goal was to find the worst offencive team So I givie you the 29 Chicago White Sox
Best Hitter is Carl Reynols 109 OPS+ is your best hitter not even close to his best season in 1930. You do get a few cheap options but there in postion you have similar options. For Pitching you get Tommy Thomas and Red Faber to add to your Starting rotation but nothing much for releivers.

Well done. Really a handcuffing you've handed me. On the plus side, it's Moe Berg's best season and how many chances do you get to roster a catcher who's an actual spy?

vilefileman - to go along with the 1969 Twins and the 1959 KCA’s, I am gifting you the 1949 Chicago Cubs. My favorite part of this top to bottom bad team is their only player at 3B, Frankie Gustine. He really sucks.

Why the focus on Gustine? Well, first he gives you nothing. The 59 KCA’s have a trio of players at 3B in Dick Williams, Hal Smith and Hector Lopez. Williams is the best of the bunch and very average if you needed to start him. The 69 Twins have one of the best hitters of the season in Harmon Killebrew at 3B who won the HR Crown that season with 49 dingers. He might be the best hitter you have available to you right now or not…not with the big dagger bull’s eye he may have on his back.

At the end of the day, Killebrew may survive a dagger or you’ll find a good contingency with your 4th round pick. Regardless, the 49 Cubs don’t provide you with much other than a couple of marginal hitters in Andy Pafko and Hank Sauer. The pitching is bad, too.

Good luck, and enjoy!

seay00, I've been trying to nail down the best team to leave you with. Your '59 Giants give you a handful of solid starting pitchers but not much in the name of a bullpen. They also have Cepeda and Mays to spark the offense, plus a partial McCovey season I'm sure you'd love to be able to use. The '49 Browns are nothing to write home about, giving you precious little to add to your pitching staff (and no cheap arms at all). A couple of usable catchers and outfielders and a decent 3B in Dillinger though he can't field much. Only one hitter is under $1M, too. So you don't have much flexibility with them.

Any team I can give you now has at least somewhere that helps you a little. I've looked at 5 really good candidates trying to see where I can make this as awkward as possible. I've finally settled on the 1949 Philadelphia A's.

The A's only have 20 eligible players, just 7 of them pitchers. But aside from a very walk-prone Bobby Shantz you won't want to use any of the other ones either. And if you do, none of them are cheap. If you also don't want to use lousy Browns pitchers, you start to run out of position player slots pretty quickly.

The A's do give you some decent options, though they're all a tad on the pricey side. SS Joost is good, but can you afford his $7M salary? They have a couple usable OF who could play CF if you don't use Mays ... but let's be serious, you want to use Mays. And do you want to overpay for guys with 700+ PA who are basically average hitters to put next to him? And if you do, which Browns do you take? Only so many OF spots, and two of the Browns' best hitters play out there, too, and are more affordable.

Did I mention that your Giants and Browns had no cheap backups at 1B or 2B? Well, don't worry because neither do these A's. I feel like you're gonna have to waste some money somewhere unless you can find a perfect match team in Round 4 that fills every gap. Best of luck!

Sorry about that. I hope they play like they know NOTHING of the Great Depression. Hear them roar!

The Great Depression will be a perfect name for my lineup.

claytonengel has the 79 Orioles and 69 Pilots

The O’s provide solid pitching and a good hitter at 1B and the OF cheap subs at C and SS - not much help at C,2B, 3B and SS

the Pilots provided no offensive help other than a crappy defensive 2B and one sub at 3B. A couple of decent pitchers.

I gift you the 1969 Philadelphia Phillies - they are pretty similar to the Pilots. A couple of pitchers - no hitting and no real cheap subs.

good luck

BeAllEndAll… I grant you the 1949 Cincinnati Reds. A truly horrendous offense with no substantial pitching help. Best of luck!

49 Reds went to eman in round two.
