I knew it was silly not to put your finish higher but I didn’t love the team and your **** talking about your team probably had me undervalue it. Really impressive as always with what you turned this draft into. Good luck going for the 4peat!

Thanks JC! Yeah it seemed I did mess up on the McCray, Odom and sengun picks. Maybe if I did a better job late I could’ve finished higher. Rondo should’ve been drafted later but he did what I was hoping for very well imo.

The Wes Unseld eval is one of the best things I've read here in a long time.

Secret Santa Eval for jcred5

Round One - Giannis Antetokounmpo - Great pick. He was already a great pick, then he added another top five season. I think I saw jcred5 mention that he wanted to give Giannis some run at SG. Scary.

Round Two - Elton Brand - Elton has the two terrific SF seasons, plus some other seasons that are decent, but nothing like those two. Grabbing Brand here supports the playing Giannis at SG strategy. I would be afraid to take Brand this high, I prefer getting more than two great seasons with my second pick, but jcred5 has a proven track record of knowing what he is doing so I am going to assume that he knows what he is doing.

Round Three - Tyrese
Haliburton - Last season when [name redacted] took Haliburton in the fourth round [name redacted] was very pleased with the pick. Then everyone told [name redacted] what a stupid pick it was. Then [name redacted's] teams sucked, so everyone was right. Now Haliburton has added another season, jcred5 has taken him in the third round and apparently it's a great pick for jcred5 and a stupid pick for [name redacted]. Another pick indicating that jcred5 is going for the two great teams strategy.

Round Four - Pau
Gaol - Pau is very clean and is not the same thing every season, so I am assuming that jcred5 will use Gasol to give whatever that team needs more of whatever that team needs.

Round Five - Amare Stoudemire - More offense. Hooray!

Round Six - Tracy McGrady - I would assume that McGrady is the backup for Antetokounmpo at SG. I feel strongly about getting good backups for your primary scorers and jcred5 has taken a page out of [
name redacted's] playbook and is following the same strategy here.

Round Seven - Kemba Walker - Good backup for Haliburton and I assume Kemba will start at least one season, maybe more. Another clean player.

Round Eight - Dan Roundfield - Nice pick in the eighth round. He can play some PF and some SF, play some defense, get some rebounds. [
name redacted] wanted Roundfield. [name redacted] did not get Roundfield.

Round Nine - De'Anthony Melton - His team needed another point guard since Haliburton only has four seasons. I probably would have taken Mark Price or Terry Porter here, but I am once again assuming that jcred5 knows what he is doing.

Round Ten - Samuel Dalembert - This would appear to be some defense and rebounding to go with his scorers. Solid pick.

Round Eleven - Roy
Tarpley - I'm going to say that when you put his 16/26 rebounding season next to these other guys.....well it's more points.

Round Twelve - Charlie Edge - More rebounds from the edge. Get it? I can be so clever.

Offense - These teams should score in buckets. (See, I'm being clever again.)

Defense - These teams should have enough of Giannis, Brand and Roundfield mixed in to at least slow some teams down.

Rebounds - They should have enough rebounds and on some teams they might be elite.

Intangibles - More than anything, I just wanted to write intangibles. It sounds smart. But, oh yeah, this team has intangibles, you bet!

Stocks - Honestly, I haven't really looked at his team at all, but I am going to go out on a limb and say he will have some.

Outlook - I don't normally make predictions, but you mix a great player, Haliburton Antetokounmpo, with an elite manager, jcred5, throw in some intangibles, and I think we have the recipe for a top five finish.

Nah, you were right, my team sucks! 8-12 may very well end up being spot on.

2. jhsukow - Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Bill Walton, Daniel Gafford, Kevin Love, Bo Outlaw, Vince Carter, Jamal Murray, Kyle O'Quinn, Jamario Moon, Grant Hill, Buddy Hield

The eyeball test says you’re going to have good rebounding. Your shooting looks good, Magic alone will be enough to power you to a decent passing game, though a lot of your bigs are lemons at the line. You shouldn’t have too bad a turnover problem – at least in the seasons Wilt plays nice.

I'm not seeing a lot of guard defense. Moon (SG only), Carter (SG only), and Magic each have 1 season above 80 defense, and that's it. You are mostly working in the 50-70 range. This makes me worry what will happen if you play Love at SG. Steal rates aren't much better. Passing is probably going to be rocky when Magic is sitting, too.

I do like that you surrounded Magic with enough 3s, and clean guards. Your guards rebound pretty well too.

Another positive is that the big man defense is a huge contrast with plenty of 90s and good blocks.

A few player specific notes:
I probably would have gone with PG13 instead of Magic after the Wilt start, given the board. I’m not mad at the Wilt pick, but lately I’ve landed on having him around #4 or #5 in Savage.

I’m also not sure how I feel about Walton in Savage. I considered him during my turn in the 3rd but didn’t feel comfortable with the value; I prefer your getting him at the end of the 3rd by a decent margin.

I’ve become a little lower on Outlaw than I used to be. He’s useful but I think top of the 6th is still too early for him.

Positives: I liked the Gafford pick a lot, as well as Moon and Love when you got them. Same with Kyle O’Quinn. Vince and Jamal went right around where they should have, and Buddy was a fine final pick – though like I said I’d have liked to see more guard defense sprinkled in there somewhere.

Overall thoughts:
I have this team in the 10-16 range. As I’ve hit on, I like the big man situation but am wary of the stopping power of your backcourt. I’m expecting a five team build, resulting in a few contenders but also some playoff misses.
