I believe that I can make this pick now because only pedrocerrano is ahead of me and he already has his Padres team.
Last round my 2016 Cubs team consisted of a couple of Jake Arrietas, a good bullpen, and a bunch of righthanded hitters who couldn't get on base. They were, by far, the worst of my seven teams in the round. So I'm not going to make that mistake again!
Instead, in this league, I'm taking a team that consists of...a couple of Jake Arrietas...a good bullpen...and...a bunch of righthanded hitters...who...can't get on base...
What could possibly go wrong?
2021 Padres
I debated a long time about the 82/84 Brewers or the 2021 Padres with my #4 pick.
In fact, I had the 2021 Padres ahead of the 2022 Padres in my mind - which only goes to show you how off I am - Footballmm11 is the undisputed god of this tournament.
Appreciate the kind words but I'm no expert! Despite being 1 year apart, actually a lot of differences between 2021 and 2022 with more pitching for '21 and more offense for '22.
2021 unique:
Hitters: Tatis Jr., Pham
Pitchers: Arrieta, Melancon, Strahm, a couple other relievers
2022 unique:
Hitters: Soto, Cano, Rooker
Pitchers: Hader, Suarez, a couple other relievers
So really it's Soto, Cano and Hader versus Arrieta, Tatis and Melancon. While Arrieta is awesome, the offensive gap is huge while the pitching gap is mitigated since 2022 still gets Darvish and Snell. Will be interesting to see how it plays out since we'll be in the same division!
