Sorry for the delay. I’ve been agonizing over a couple of teams that both have their strengths and weaknesses. In the end I will go with my heart.
My first ever live baseball games were in the summer of 1981. I was a 10 year old prairie boy who only got the Expos games on English and French CBC. And then we visited my uncle in Ottawa that summer and he took me to a couple of games down at the Big O. That was my first ever live sporting experience. I remember watching Tim Raines and Andre Dawson complete a double steal and I was so excited I caught it on my disposal camera at the time. Of course, when the film was developed later all the players looked like ants but the double steal action was there if you squinted enough.
Then in the fall my super strict old school Grade 4 teacher turned out to be a baseball fan herself. She actually let the whole class listen to the playoffs on the radio. I remember there were kids crying after the Blue Monday loss to the Dodgers.
I was, and remained , a huge Expos fan even though we eventually got CTV and the Blue Jays games a few years later and I eventually came down to Ontario for university and stayed there ever since becoming a diehard Jays fan as well.
Long story short - give me those 81 Expos from my childhood memories.
