Tokyo Aka (87-75) – 17th Overall pick: Like Colorado, another great opportunity to win right away. This team had a streak of five straight division titles snapped last season, when they finished second, two games behind Colorado. As recently as five years ago this club madeit all the way to the World Series. This team is well-balanced, finishing in the top half of nearly every offensive category. In terms of pitching, their ERA was in the bottom ten, but their WHIP and other metrics were close to league average, so the ERA may be a little misleading.
Colorado Hammer (89-73) – 20th Overall pick: Follow in the footsteps of a legend! The previous owner of this franchise spent more than 50 seasons here. They are coming off a division title and have posted a winning record in eleven of the past twelve seasons. It’s a bit of a challenge to provide a scouting report because this club has been playing half its games at Coors field. The stats say this team flat out mashes… leading the league in nearly every offensive category. The pitching is a different story, ranking at or near the bottom of the league. The truth is probably is slightly less skewed as Coors elevates hitting and deflates good pitching. There are hitters in this line-up, however, who will hit in any ballpark. Likewise, they have pitchers who are much better than their stats indicate. Bottom line: If you want an opportunity to take over a proven winner, this is your chance.
