We are just going to try something new Jr. They stopped using draft clock time slots in Savage draft leagues, and Midge's Funk 52 and it works quite well. You just need owners who follow the draft and attempt to pay attention and be ready when their turn comes up.

What happens with a draft clock is that 8-12 owners are on top of things and pick when they are up, and then we get ahead of the draft clock by three or four hours. Then, ONE owner has planned that they will be picking at say 5 pm and they are actually up to pick at 1 pm. So then the draft STOPS for FOUR hours while we wait for that owner. Trying it this way will hopefully avoid those long waiting periods. We are going to try it and see.

Any time you make major changes like this, you are going to lose some owners and gain back some owners who have left the league BECAUSE of those long delays. I'm prepared for that. That is why I said to BE PATIENT as this may take longer to fill this time.

Why not just go to 30 minute draft slots and get a round in each day. How much faster do we need to go than that? I think leagues are difficult enough to fill, let's not make conditions to eliminate or phase out the more casual owners. We need more owners, not less.

Since you do not want me Amerk I am out then I guess?. Too bad, I really enjoy this league.

Yes, I can do that, I'll provide you my cell to ensure that I am not skipped.

I have been in the DECADE league for FORTY THREE seasons
EVERY season it has existed.
I even somehow won the Championship in seasons FOUR and TWENTY FOUR.

But I have to say that THIS seasons attempt to launch is ridiculous.
RIDICULOUS
and frankly, it's disappointing.

I'm disappointed because of the struggles and continued consternation associated with this theme.

I consider myself a basketball historian, and love the deep rich history of basketball.
Here is a league that takes you through each season of the NBA and exposes you names long forgotten,
rekindles memories of players I knew about as a child and hadn't thought of in years.

To me, the idea for the DECADES theme is top notch. A great exercise in nostalgia.

Already this theme has a clock associated with ensuring that the draft is processed in a timely fashion.

Already owners understand the idea of being passed or skipped if real life hinders their abilities to build their best team.

I think its probably a healthy sign of interest in a WIS theme when owners are wanting the draft to unfold as quickly as possible,
especially when that anxiety is probably rooted in wanting to make their next highly anticipated selection.

But to push the time issue to this extent is insulting, short sighted, and rude.

I enter themes knowing and possessing the understanding that when my real life responsibilities interfere with my submitting a draft pick or proxy,
that MY OWN TEAM is going to directly suffer, and that it is disappointing to fellow owners waiting for their own opportunities.

I cant speak for others, but often times it is IMPOSSIBLE to submit picks or proxies in as timely a fashion as would be ideal.

Im a football coach
Pep Club sponsor in charge of homecoming
Chess Club sponsor, etc. etc.

I don't think I'm the only person interested in What If sports
that has responsibilities that cant be averted in order to draft or submit proxies as quickly as 23 other owners would enjoy.

So, for those who have been barred or prevented from entering this theme (my apologies),
I'd certainly like to offer you an invitation to join my league.

I'll post a schedule with draft times, take your proxies as needed, and even text you personally if a prompt is helpful.

Also, I'll understand that if you miss your allotted time and are skipped, that its usually indicative of
things outside of your control. Hopefully in that theme we are participating to enjoy ourselves and that interacting with other nerds is fun
when it gives you an opportunity to talk about basketball instead of ******** about someone missing a pick or drafting a player who was selected way back in round one.

You are entitled to your opinion cmcafeeky, and as commissioner of this league, I am entitled to decide who to let in and who not to. You have been getting on my nerves for the last dozen or so DDL leagues, and you seem to outright FLAUNT your ability to miss picks when you are up, slow thje draft down markedly every draft, and NEVER send proxy lists. It's a simple request, and you never heed it. I could ask you like I just asked cem, but I doubt you would start sending proxy lists, even if you said you would. I and many others on the sign up list are in the Savage draft league and Midge's 52, and those drafts work like clockwork! We are in round 7 of the Savage draft and we staerted on SUNDAY! That would NEVER happen in the DDL! Why? Because you are always in the DDL! Your lackadaisical attitude and inattention to this draft has consequences.

Am I missing something? It seems that the change to the 3 hour rule is a softening of the clock, from the old rule of 30 minute windows...am I missing something? Hasn't Amerk made it less restrictive to have a 3 hour clock per pick, rather than 30 minutes?
