I did not know much about Charlie Kirk but my perception is that he was a nice guy with huge potential and had extreme MAGA policies.

Donald Trump helped pull the trigger. Ever since he came down the escalator with his hateful diatribe he has successfully caused and engendered a rise of political violence and hatred against people who disagree with, that has not been seen since the 60s.

He created an atmosphere of national political violence and hatred and targeting.

And the granddaddy of plannrd and organized political violence in American history was Jan 6.

Trump is a man of hatred and violence and polarization and nobody outside of the shooter is more responsible then Trump.
And let us not fail to realize that another school shooting Another ? In Colorado today. A high School. 3 victims of which 2 are in critical condition.
The people saying thoughts and prayers are the ones keeping assault weapons legal. Have you ever heard one of them say. Enough is enough I was wrong. Certain guns must be illegal.

I guess that will be the day.

Trump says the murder was by a left winger.
He on a daily basis always proves he is the most dangerous and despicable person in America.
To immediately promote potential violence against his political opposites by branding them as murderers. So irresponsible even if he guessed correctly.

Statistically it is overwhelming that the probability is that it was a right winger or someone associated with those mindsets.

Trump himself was targeted by right-wingers.
The guy who shot him and the the guy who tried to at a golf course.

And almost all of the gun shootings at schools are by right wing second amendment nuts. Or fascist Nazi types.

I had never heard or read any statements of Charlie Kirk.
Now I have and I do think that he was an awful terrible person - a bad person. He did say many hateful things and in my opinion he was clearly 100% a racist and other things.

And he was one of the nut cases who think that Biden won a rigged election.

But even hateful comments should not lead to shooting people and even haters like Kirk should not be shot at. Murderers are murderers.

I do however also think that hateful people and hateful comments can cause other people to be at risk of being violently attacked or discriminated against and said people so affected could choose to violently retaliate.

The retaliation cannot be defended or tolerated but Kirk put a fresh smiling face on white nationalist views and Kkk type of racism.

He did not deserve to be killed but in the hateful
rightwing universe he said things and influenced bad people so extremely that he created a risk for himself by his objectively hateful comments and philosophy.

Trump Number 2 sees an attempt to kick trans people out of the military and very recently a Trump looking into disallowing trans people from owning a gun because Trump ( and Kirk ) says they are mentally ill.

BTW IF guns are needed for protection then who needs them more then trans people?

Since Trump Number 2 there has been a concerted effort to deprive them of the right to serve their country and loss of as Kirk put it their God given right to own guns as per the 2nd Amendment.

I think these things are related the shooting of Kirk.
These horrible attacks on trans people clearly go beyond legitimate political differences.

People like Trump and Kirk can’t have it both ways and can’t so casually and flippantly try to cast certain people in the country as mentally ill because of their religious beliefs and use it as a pretext to destroy their place in society.

I’m having a difficult time with the chilling of free speech and retaliation against people who say they are happy Kirk is dead.
Don’t those people have a right to their opinion.

Major hypocrisy. Unsavory maybe but still free speech. If someone thinks that Kirk was a virulent racist and bigot and was extremely harmful to the country why should someone face reprisal for being glad the person is dead.

I am not happy he is dead but I am very very relieved that his reign of hatred is over.
He did not froth at the mouth but he normalized hate and made it fresh and palatable because he was a good looking guy and a good family man.

The NFL wants a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk.
WOW another example of how morally bankrupt and stupid our country is and why civilized countries have decided that they have the same opinion of American people as I do.

The optimistic happy statement that one can trust in the goodness and character of the American people is a myth and nothing more.

Among the many divisive things Kirk stood for are the following : Democrats ( as a generic term ) stand for everything God hates. I say that a bit divisive for a moment of silence.

And the enactment of the civil rights act of 1965 was a bad thing and MLK was not a good man.

Vehemently opposed to DEI.
Says that United States is a Christian country and must stay that way.

Those are a few of his favorite things.
The election of 2020 was rigged - still says it.

Freedom of belief yes freedom of speech yes
moment of silence God no. Not in a place that says one nation under God,

It will be so embarrassing if there is even one African American person bowing his/her head for such a divisive man who supported hateful things.

And for the beloved NFL to have this under their auspices? A disgrace. And people want to know why Kapernick is Kapernick.

Why not a moment of silence for the victims of gun violence around the country instead.

Freedom Of Speech In The Country That Was

A lot of people are getting punished because they have not articulated well enough for certain people that they condemn the murder of Kirk but that they unapologetically greatly disrespect Kirk.

The best statement that I have heard and it says it all, is as follows:

How a man dies does not redeem how he lived.

And that is so true and so applicable.
