Greetings!
I recently completed a draft of 2025 players using the WIS draft tool. It was so much fun that I am starting a progressive league (1969 to present), drafting players from one year at a time.
If you have not used this tool yet, you should try it once. It's not difficult at all.
You don't need to sign up here, but feel free to ask questions here or backchannel. The league theme is THM76031, and we have several signed up already.
The early versions of this league will not have a DH - we will add that in 1973 when the AL did. We will add AAA players decades later, after the number of 200+ inning pitchers falls significantly. With 20 players picking from 24 teams, there should be quality options at many positions and workable platoons at others. But people will draft differently, prioritizing pitching vs hitting, defense vs offense, etc. Some might assemble the core of their favorite teams as well.
Stadiums are drafted after, using the actual 1969 stadiums. No DH, No AAA, yes injuries, no trades, 100m cap (no one got close in 2025 but perhaps some will in earlier years).
The league says the draft starts Nov 30, but that's arbitrary because WIS makes me set a date. It could be earlier or later - just a couple of days after the league is filled. If need to avoid starting on a specific day, you can mention in the league chat after you sign up.
I don't plan to wait until 1969 ends to begin sign up for 1970 - that will happen a few games into 1969. Even if you miss 1969, keep an eye out. Join us for every season, or just your favorite seasons, as we draft our way through the winter months and beyond!

My focus is being able to have frequent drafts using WIS.

Have you ever tried a live draft on WIS before?

If not, please feel free to ask me questions now (or during the draft).

A short description ... once the league fills, the start date will be set so that, you know, several days in advance, the precise window where you can make your next pick. If you miss that pick window, you can make the pick at any point after that.But depending on how long you take, some players may have become unavailable.

Just like with leagues that build rosters in other ways, you will benefit from some research into the players available in a given year. But since the windows for picks are 10 minutes, even waiting for your pick to start.Your research would not be unreasonable.

I do a lot of my managing from my phone, but there is a feature whereby you can queue up some batters and some hitters to select them quickly if they are still available. It will not auto select them, but i usually have a draft plan at least thirty minutes before my window opens.

Deciding which positions to prioritize is a lot of the fun! Just like with a fantasy baseball draft, you sometimes get a fair bit of chatter about specific picks, which adds to the fun. After the draft is complete, there's still a couple of days to get your batting orders aligned before the games begin.

As an additional bonus, the owner with the best record (total regular season wins) over the first 5 seasons with get $35 in WIS credit, and the runner up $15.
Hopefully we won't end up with any 2nd teams but if so only the best record counts, with playoff wins as the tiebreaker.

You draft a new team each year from that year's player pool.
The tool isn't any more complicated than a fantasy baseball draft. There will be a schedule showing who is on the clock at each future time for the draft. Assume you are on 3 times daily for just over 8 days. It will run daytime hours only, not overnight. You will know all the times well in advance.
When you are up, the normal team select interface will show you only eligible players remaining but it will otherwise look like the normal selection tool. When you add them to your team, you drafted them.
If you miss your window, you can pick late at any time, but others may have picked when their time opened.
You can also create a queue of interesting players, separated into batters and pitchers. This makes it quick to select a player you planned from your phone. If a player in queue is picked by someone, they will no longer appear.
It's like fantasy baseball except the end of season stats are known so the actual season is normal sim games.
