Frequently Asked Questions about SLB Topic

To answer the 2nd part of your question, there is no additional penalty applied to low PA players. So Williams, Spencer, etc. will perform according to their actual stats, assuming they are at 100%.

Are there penalties imposed for "Usage%" or other categories in WIS baseball or football?
I’m not as familiar with the football side, but on the baseball side there is one such and that is for pitchers. It’s known as “appearance fatigue” and is roughly set such that a pitcher cannot appear in more than 70% of team games before experiencing fatigue. It’s actually based on pitches relative to % of assigned total pitches (similar to PA for hitters, and to a pitchers regular fatigue, commonly called “usage fatigue” which is entirely based on pitches relative to the assigned total pitches similar to how PA work in the example above), however in appearance fatigue, there is an additional weight factor on number of teams games projected to appear in that is calculated separately. Additionally, pitchers have a third type of fatigue known as “in-game fatigue” which is based on pitches relative to their total assigned pitches per game.

There are many links to each of these in the forum that dive much deeper into them if you search by those names they are commonly known as.

Question: I have three elite late inning BP arms. If I move all to SetupA (and not select a closer at all), will the system use the best available arm once the high leverage situations start, and ultimately use the best available arm to close the game?

Or will it set aside the best arm to close the game, thinking the human erred by not selecting a closer?

It will bring in the one with the lowest OAV first, then the one with the second lowest OAV, etc. The sim isn’t smart enough to plan out getting through the ninth inning, it just follows the instructions you give it.

also there isn’t a high leverage situation setting, so if you have those guys available in the 6th inning, that’s when they will start coming in if the game isn’t a blowout

Thanks. So basically one of the reasons to identify a closer is to protect his usage.
