Possible return for this league in the early to mid Spring 2026.

Seeing if there is interest in this type of league for a March or April targeted start.

We could tweak it from the latest 2023 version. Or leave as-is. The foundation and format worked really well. Post here if interested.

I'd certainly be interested. I like the idea of unique squads, and seeing different players.

Awesome. We can start working up a new list like the one from page 1. We did a draft for 8 straight days before with a proxy and lists if necessary. Draft times posted, so people could work around it knowing their time each day well in advance.

FYI- Realistically- Soonest start (live draft) would be early to mid March. But either way we’ll hang in there until we get enough owners and teams.

Copied this over from the last season played. We had a handful of other owners not listed drop out from previous seasons, but the retention was very high. I only recall 2 owners that played just 1 season and left. We also have a pick your draft position (top, middle, last) and we can resume with where we left off with the banned round to remove a player or OL or Def from the draft pool. It is quite cathartic and cleansing when you can say bye to your most hated and potent players and units out there!

One other thought to make the banned round and first round spicier- is to have them both running simultaneously. Or through the entire second round would be even more awesome in my opinion. The salary cap (extra money) and pool of players can handle 48 bans each season. This way the same top 10 players/units aren't banned every time: OJ, Crazy Legs, Matty Ice, Rodgers, Megatron, Ravens OL Its possible that they land on a team each season. I believe we voted on this during the season for the following season and the majority said no at that time. But this can make the draft even more strategic and fun. And the later rounds more contentious. We also can incorporate caps on the bans for each position or unit, so its not all QBs or OL or DEFs. A balanced ban with a max of 8 each banned- QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, DEF. The units are selected or banned in 10 year bubbles which makes the rights or no rights to the Brees Saints OL or 50s Rams OL significant.

Example: 1st draft pick at 10am. After 1015 am, the owner at pick 24 can ban at 1016am regardless of whether the pick has been made. A 15 minute period for the selection before the ban. The timestamp on the forum is the official time. With the selections scheduled for every 30 mins.

Example: 10AM: RB Derrick Henry chosen at 1010. RB OJ Simpson banned at 1018.
1030AM: Ravens OL 2015-2024 bubble chosen at 1031. QB Peyton Manning banned at 1047.
11AM: WR Crazy Legs Hirsch banned at 1117am. 1982-1991 Bears DEF chosen at 1120am. Ban after the 15 minute period but occurs first.

Remaining ban caps: 7 RBs, 7 OBs, 7 WRs, 8OLs, 8 DEFs, 8TEs. We provide a ticker of that throughout the draft day. We could try it with just 1 round of 24 before expanding to 2 rounds of 48.

None of the rules have changed from the season 4-5 rulebook thread in the theme league section. My latest posts are suggestions in which we could vote on.

One other point to make of the simultaneous round one of drafting and banning- it would condense the draft to 7 days total vice 8.

Imagine how gratifying it would be to remove OJ, Rodgers, 42 Bears D, 24 Ravens OL from the draft board when the very next pick could draft him- within the next 10 minutes..The banned round in the past was not nearly as exciting the 2nd time around that we tried it. It had its own banned day and made the real draft picks the next day not as exciting.

I think we would enjoy the simultaneous draft/ban so much that it might eventually expand to 2 rounds of 48 bans.

And we can always start the draft on a preferred day, perhaps the weekend, if that is more manageable and conducive for the group. Saturday start and following Friday finish to not work into another weekend.

Here's a new idea on the banning topic:

We could have everyone provide a list of 20 bans. This is actually really interesting.... You could ban whoever you want at the 9 spots- QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, Def. ST, K. P. No limits or caps per the spots. Do whatever you want. We gather up and tally the bans. Say if we have 15 owners times 20 bans, you have 300 votes to get the top 24 players or units to be banned. This would be pretty neat to see the results.

You could be serious with it and ban all studs. You could be by design-- ban people that you don't want, but others do. Ban those cheap kickers, punters or Special Teams options to make others spend more. Pick all QBs. Pick no QBs. Use the bans any way you choose. And that makes the live draft far more interesting in my opinion. And each year people come back with a different ban plan and draft strategy based off that. Additionally, we will not have a boring ban of the same thing and people might get a shot at having the elite players. Perhaps a Beta test could be done to see if we like the idea.

Claim your spot! We have 6 interested so far, but it will gain steam again with the regular Sim football folks, especially if we get some new names joining from anywhere in the WIS community. Football is underrated on here. The only game with halftime adjustments and extended settings on both sides of the ball.

Just getting this idea out while it’s fresh in my mind:

in sequence:

- myself and 2 other owners sitemail our ban ballots to each other (the ban committee) for ballot integrity. Just a day prior to all ballots starting to trickle in.

- we receive all ban ballots via sitemail from owners by the next day or two to the ban committee only.

- we count the ban ballot entries and confirm the entirety of the ban totals within the ban committee via sitemail.

- we release/present the top 24 bans in increments over 1 day in the theme league forum. We release the full list without owner names attached thereafter.

- we pause until the ideal draft day start for 7 consecutive days in 30 min time slots from 10am ET to 930pm ET each day.

also of importance, the draft election is fully completed before the ban ballot submission start for all owners.
