I think I've mentioned this in previous drafts, but Rod Carew was my favorite player when I was a kid. While most of my friends idolized the power hitters of that time, I was always the oddball who rooted for the high-average players who rarely cracked double digits in HRs. I didn't play organized baseball but if I had, I always imagined that I would be the kind of player who would go 1-for-3 with 2 walks. "A walk is as good as a hit". I was into analytics before it was popular. (I still have a bunch of the old Bill James Baseball Abstracts).

That being said, coming into the draft, I was hoping to land one of Carew's top three 2B seasons in round 3. chewy took 1973. RTG took 1974. So I guess I will take...
