The regular season has ended and Addicted Users again will have only one opening. This is one of the oldest worlds in HBD and we have accumulated a solid group of owners that offers top-notch competition and a fun atmosphere. While we have a MWR, the minimums are easily achieved. 57 wins for your ML team, 30 for AAA down to Low A, and 15 in Rookie League. The only opening will be in the NL so we are looking for a baseball traditionalist until HBD follows RL and allows the DH in both leagues.
Here's a review of the available team opening:
Former Atlanta Franchise (NL East 76-86, 3rd pl)
After 4 seasons of hovering around the .500 mark the current owner is relinquishing control of this team as he takes some time away from HBD. Offense has been a problem for this team with only 120+ dingers and a team .243 batting average will attest. They have a couple of players that have produced decent numbers and are led by Juniel Clapp (29, 83, .251). Yet the new owner will need to decide the identity of this team. Presently the team does not have a lot of power, nor speed, or OBP leaving the offense to flounder and put an undo strain on the pitching staff.
Speaking of the pitching staff, Tommy Lee (13/16, 2.64) was the leader of a closer by committee, however with his success it may be wise to hand the position over to him. The rotation was pretty decent with Rhett Rivera (8-10, 3.54), Hipolito Martin (7-12, 3.74) posting the strongest number. So, while they did what they could, fixing the offense may allow them to relax without needing to throw a shutout every outing.
The offense needs a lot of help so it may be a bit of a challenge to fix it in one offseason. The pitching staff could use a true number one and another front to middle of the rotation type. This means this will be a rebuild and the new owner will need to evaluate the players that will help this team build and which must be discarded for better upgrades.
In the farm system there are a couple of players on ML contracts that may be helpful to the big-league squad while they finish out their current contracts. There are also some young players that with some time to develop can be ML quality players so the new owner may need to be a bit patient so they can improve to that level.
Overall, this is an intriguing team to take over and should be fun to develop.
This team would be a good team for a newbie to work on as he/she learns the game. A veteran owner that prefers rebuilds would also be a good fit since there will be lots of room for growth and opportunities to move in new players.
