I have multiple guys with contracts for the current season who are now free agents to start the season. What rule or glitch would make them free agents like this?

The guy you linked is set to mutual option. He probably opted out. You can check the transactions report to find out.

Thanks. Yep that's what it is. Had three guys do it and I've never had it happen before in my seasons. I've always done mutual options and well.

Just FYI, a Patience rating of 61 would have an effect on whether he would be likely to decline his option, as it would also affect his likelihood to pursue free agency. I would guess he's also a Type A; that will also trigger a declined option. I've had a player with 95 Patience be willing to re-sign after rollover, then go to free agency once the budgets were set - because he was a Type A.
