Maximizing prospect defensive development Topic

I know this has been discussed before, but it has been a long time since I saw this conversation. Say, theoretically, I had a highly drafted centerfield prospect who looks a little shaky on the defensive side of things. Is there merit in having him play out of position somewhere like second base where he would see more action, or does the position they are played at have no effect on their defensive ratings development, just the total amount of innings played in the field somewhere?

No merit. They could play DH every game and they will still develop the same defensively as if they played a position in the field.

I once had a great hitting catcher (49 Pitch Calling) who played exclusively DH in the minors till he got to the bigs. Still hit all his projections defensively.

True. Not the best programming if you ask me... one of the many flaws of the player development engine, which imo is the worst thing about HBD.
