Change in how credits are used to purchase teams Topic

Hopefully everyone reads the app announcement, even if you don't plan on using it, because there's also news in there about an upcoming change to how site credits are used.

Yup.. cash in your credits soon if you want to avoid paying more than you would expect.

Are they saying that, going forward, if I want to purchase a SLB 6-pack for $60, even if I have $60 in credits in my account, I can only apply $30 in credits to the purchase and have to pay the other $30 via credit card?

That's the way I read it.

That's not good news...

This feels targeted at highly successful owners that have racked up so many credits they never have to buy teams. I really wonder how much those owners actually cost WIS, since they should consider the value those type of owners add. Most of the incredible sim league baseball info in the forums was posted by those type of owners.

I also think this hurts the new owners. Win your first championship and get enough for a free team - except when you check out and have to pay for half. Maybe an annual cap on credits before the 50% discount kicks in would have been a better solution.

That being said, it is promising to see the developments happening. A good app could really help with growth, and the site definitely needs new players. This credit policy is just a bit of a head scratcher unless it’s really costing the website a significant amount of money.

vs

This feels targeted at never-played-here-before guys who would like to evince some interest but do not want to get their hats handed

i'm just wondering why apple

and supposing it is where the money is

it seems like to me its a way to get a handle on who actually likes this place

prolly what they'll do is offer all you AI tool-using crapple dominators a honorary position on the crisis/advice line and a certificate of pwnrship

kinda like a bein a packers fan

"This feels targeted at highly successful owners that have racked up so many credits they never have to buy teams."

It definitely is.

I've been playing and paying WIS since 2004, on this and my previous account.

I've been successful enough these past two years that I've had to pay very little actual money to play the game, and to be honest that's probably why I'm still around.
If they expect me to want to pay actual money for this stagnating game, they'd better give me more than an app, I'm talking about updates that will finally solve the cancer of this game, that is the nauseating redundancy of cookie players.

I have 9 teams sitting in my draft center and enough credits for at least 9 more. I don't play dozens of teams at a time like a lot of owners do, I like to micro-manage everything and study boxscores to keep learning about the game.
Now I will be forced to cash in those credits before the March 24th deadline or lose money.
I don't like to feel forced to do anything.

I agree that the app will probably, hopefully, be *one* way of getting new players, but as soon as they enter an OL and go 42-120 because they get banged up by certain types of owners who abuse the cookie recipe, they'll be gone before their first season is even over.

You want my money, give me updates, it's as simple as that.

I've paid to play MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL throughout the years, and of all these games, which use to be really good and fun when there was regular updates but now totally suck because of the cookie situation and the NBA's "state farm" strategy, only MLB still offer mild interest, mostly thanks to theme leagues.

I don't really see any other options than a dynamic salary system to solve the cookie crisis. But one with the correct formula, that is increase salaries of the most used players but also decrease those of lesser used players.
The only formula ever used in the past was all increase and almost no decrease at all.

This is a major, major change of WIS "account policy update", and unless they offer a better quality product in return, I will not go along with it. The app alone won't cut it for me.

Bingo. My thought exactly. The "Interactive, animated play-by-play with Live GameTracker" might be a nice feature (although I won't know for sure until they release an Android version of the app), but they at the VERY least need to fix the myriad issues with the game that have existed forever before they get much more of my money.

Pretty much what he said. Though for me it isn't about credits or the cost. (I NEVER have many credits as I don't win many divisions, etc.)
It's REALLY ALL about the attitude of this new policy. It's a serious F U to the long term successful owners who make this site even work!!

In short it's a HORRID new decision that will likely mark the beginning of the end of this place!
