For the group positions (OL, DEF/SP), is having been drafted by a team sufficient or do they need to have played at least whatever amount of games in the NFL to qualify for choosing their teammates?
ESPN doesn't provide stats for OL players, so how do we know which seasons they played for which NFL teams?
Being drafted is not a requirement for your alumni to be rostered. There are probably some good free agents that played for the Aggies and appear in the WIS database. OL and Def are not too difficult to find your connective player to the units you want.
For special teams, you can normally find a WR or DB or CB that returned kicks or punts. When you are on the AFL/NFL stats for the Aggies historically, you can click on the names, then scroll down to kick/punt return stats and it will show if they have stats, this makes those units eligible. Make a list of those units when clicking through your college players, then you check in WIS for the best ST fit for you. Some schools with less options have to start digging for new age stats (in pro football reference) since 2011 of special teams percentage on the NFL players profile for those OL, LB, DT, DE that played on special teams. It is at the bottom of modern players profile since 2011.
Also of note, many times, the savvy vets in Sim Football disregard Special Teams and look for the cheapest unit, so we can spend elsewhere on the roster. Similar thing with kickers and punters. I have spent a little money on kickers at times, but almost never on Special Teams or punters.
