Change in how credits are used to purchase teams Topic

How much of this is new policy is due to mwett entering same same team into open leagues so he can get free teams?

It's also a very bad sign that they've buried this announcement at the bottom of another announcement, a lot of people aren't going to realize this even happened until it's too late to redeem their credits at 100% and be really mad and not pay another dime on principle.

Excellent point. At the very least, this is not a good look.

I think this is a potentially positive look at this. This removes some of the motivation for entering the same old teams just to win credits.

Probably a few people will drop off the site out of principle of the change, but let's face it - most of us are addicted enough that it will take more than this to make us drop out.

mwett hasn't entered a team in at least two months.

I don't think it has anything to do with him in particular.

There really aren't that many owners who are "successful" enough to go years with having to spend money. Very few actually.

Most owners who win big, also spend big, look at those guys' profile and you'll see that they play 25-30+ teams at a time. That will eat up a ton of credits.

Personally, I can't see a positive in that move, and like 06gsp pointed out, I very much dislike how they weaseled the announcement underneath the main announcement, reminds me of the way corrupt politicians work.

I think this change sucks. The amount of prize support they give out is tiny as a fraction of total tournament entries. It just shouldn’t make much of a difference to the bottom line to make this change. Will paying for half a season with reward points cost half as much as it used to or are they literally cutting prize support in half?

its not tiny if you're a winner

what they're saying is Pay for the fun of dominatin the hobbyist einstein

i mean cmon. yer name is statfiend fer chrissakes

"Pay for the fun of dominatin the hobbyist"

There's no fun in that. You make it sound like if you're winning you're a bully picking on those who aren't.

For me the fun isn't win at any cost, as in drafting all the cookies available, it's trying to win a certain way, trying different strategies and ideas.
I've won OLs and TLs with all sorts of different strategies, high AVG team, +++ range team, pure SB team, SLG team, using only players from one franchise etc...

About your previous post;

If they really knew their numbers, they wouldn't basically cut rewards in half, by having us pay 50% in cash and expect us to feel thrilled about the change.
WITHOUT FIRST OFFERING US SOMETHING REAL IN EXCHANGE FOR OUR CASH.

Who really thinks it's great idea to ask customers to pay more money for an outdated product that hasn't been updated in about two decades? Seriously!

We'll "let them run", yes.
Because we don't have a choice, they didn't ask for our opinion.

"Let's see what happens", sure.
Because, we don't have a choice there either.

I know what will happen in my case. They won't get more of my money.
That is unless they finally make the updates they've been promising since they took over the game.

I couldn't care less about that app, it's not making the actual game better.
I'm not going to pay for it.

One thing missing from the conversation here is that if you are a Theme League creator, you also get credits for that. In fact, that is where the majority of credits that I receive, come from. So the reward for creating leagues, that generate business for them, will be cut in half as well. Sounds like a business decision designed to cut their own throats.

Great point. I wonder if there might be an exception for creator credits? I somehow doubt it.

I also wonder if reward points for winning leagues and/or TOC's will also be subject to this new rule, since when you cash them in for free teams, they count as credits.

Technically, if we keep playing, we will all still get to use our credits, but basically (in SLB) just $30 at a time per 6 pack instead of $60...or $6.47 per team instead of $12.95.

It ensures immediate cash flow for the site, IF the players continue to buy teams. But the real concern, as stated above, is that long-time owners decide they won't spend the cash...thus making OL's, TL's, progs, and tournaments harder to fill...thus lowering the amount of creator credits...thus meaning fewer leagues, and less cash spent on the site overall.

The more I think about this, the more I think it's a really bad business plan - not to mention a slap in the face of the owners who have spent dollar after dollar on this site for many years.

Several good points have been made in this thread. I believe the thing that bothers most of us long timers is the lack of updates that have been promised over many years AND by different owners of the site. The players that are good at this game and have credits built up often field many teams that help fill leagues. It's already difficult enough to fill leagues now; this new policy won't help matters in the near future (IMO). I usually run 25-35+ teams at a time.

Cashed in my credits yesterday and refuse to pay for a game that hasn't followed through on promises made over and over. Once my teams run out late this year, I will be done. IF the site does finally come through with improvements and updates, then it may coerce me to spend some money.

Hopefully, the new owner will come through with new additions and improvements in order to keep players interested and the site going.

This. If you believe this change to be necessary, explain it to everyone in broad daylight.

Nope, I won't be back, only reason I'm still here is because I don't have to pay with the recent ToC credits I won.

Like mensu said, once I'm done with my credits, I'm gone, unless they start updating the game.

I wonder why you're kissing arse so much, you an alt of the current owner team or something?

Anyhow, it doesn't matter who you are or what you think, you're alone with your point of view.

All the owners/customers who have posted in this thread pretty much feel the same way I do, very understandably.
