Tool to scrape play-by-play and generate spreadshe Topic

Is there a tool that has been created (and shared) that scrapes the play-by-play pages of a SimLeague Football game (or games) and then populates a table with the important data from the individual plays?

In Gridiron Dynasty, we have two such tools to do exactly that. The first was created by a coach with the username Yatzr and then a similar tool was created by a coach named Ed Zimny.

Once you specify which games you want to analyze, it takes a few seconds to scrape the play-by-play data and then populate a table with all of the important data from each play.

This allows you to analyze the effectiveness of various plays, matchups, etc. without the agony of spending hours scraping and collating the data.

I'm just wondering whether a similar tool/app exists here in SimLeague Football.

Armchair, our WIS NFL Football community ... has always been a tight lipped bunch ... and the deeper the questions get, the louder the crickets get.
Send a ticket to Customer Support and they can be very helpful usually within a few hours.

This is way above my head, but I have a pretty decent record in SIM NFL. You're way too deep. I have played SIM NBA & MLB with much success. I would say at my peak, a min of 5 MLB owners were better than me (deep field) and fewer NBA owners were better (Not as deep). NFL SIM is fairly simple. My record in NFL would be better if I didn't build teams in leagues that took months to fill & then never managed the teams bc I forgot about them (years ago). I faced myself in the Super Bowl recently. I am not a NFL SIM expert by any means. Very little experience. I would say I am one of the best NBA & MLB owners there is (minus the very elite)... I do not use any outside tools, only what WIS offers. It's not that deep. NFL SIM isn't as intricate as you want it be, And if you have to use programs to win.. well.. Ok...

BTW, You basically have the right idea. I was jealous of your team when I saw it. You gave my Packer 1 of it's 2 losses (6-2 and up 17-6 at HT of game 9)... You're probably running into bad SIM luck. My 7-1 Chiefs are getting their butts kicked (24-3) by the 1-7 Dolphins at HT. No explanation for it.... I just roll with it. KC is a good team. They've performed better than they should have in some games (versus the Raiders for 1)... SIM is paying me back... It happens. You have a good roster. Don't over-think it. 16 Games is a tiny sample size. I have have MLB teams in last place after 30 games (many times) and even 40 games that I knew were built properly and ended up winning the WS....Myself and the other vet owners knew not to judge your NBA teams until 20 games into it or 30 games into it for the MLB... That;s reality... IDK about NFL... I'm saying the SIM works out in the end per my experience in all formats...but 16 is a tiny sample size... I will say my Crimson Tide team lost a lot of games it should have on paper and beat most of the top teams it faced. End up 9-7 & lost in the SB to a better team.

Thanks, DCarden and milest.

I may be over-thinking it, I don't know. This is my first ever attempt at any of the sim games.

What I've been doing is reviewing the play-by-play to evaluate what works and what doesn't, and I was looking for an easier way to extract the data from the play-by-play and pull it together into one spreadsheet.

In Gridiron Dynasty, we have an app that does that in a few seconds and it makes analyzing your plays so easy. I was just wondering if that exists here in SimLeague Football.

Several experienced coaches in Gridiron Dynasty have been very helpful in mentoring me and other new coaches, and a few coaches with coding skills have created some very useful apps that they have shared with all the coaches in GD. I think they share their coaching knowledge and apps because they want to help new coaches get over the learning curve, thereby increasing the chances that new coaches will stick around for the longterm.
