I'm in. I was in the infield at the 1973 Derby. We were about 10th in line when the gates opened, so we were able to claim a spot on the fence as close to the finish line as possible. That gave us a close-up view of the horses during the post parade & warmups.
Secretariat was a beautiful horse, thick and very muscular. The other horse that impressed me visually was Forego, who was much taller than Secretariat but not as powerful looking. I think Forego finished fourth that day, but once he matured and grew into his frame he became a great horse in his own right.
