The best base stealer I ever saw in HBD maxed out his ratings at 96 Baserunning and 99 Speed. In his best season he stole 103 and was caught 3 times. What more would you like him to do?

Considering the state of today's game, a 96/99 player probably shouldn't exist. Remember that HBD seems to be modelled on the style of baseball being played at least 20 years ago.

Point being, IMO, that if this game added Individual stealing - without modifying the current player generation models - base stealing numbers would be ridiculous.

There are still incredibly fast players in MLB, but managers allow stealing less these days due to moneyball-era repudiations of the value of stolen bases.

You're describing the best base stealer you ever saw, of course he's going to have the best base stealing stats you've ever seen. The issue is not that the best base stealers can't steal bases, it's that if you want to be aggressive with those players you need to change a setting that also causes you to try to steal with your 35-speed 1B a bunch of times per season. That doesn't make any sense. The 99 speed base stealer should be able to have a green light without causing a bunch of other slow guys to counteract his success by getting caught 40 times a year.
