Another pro tip for the 110 league. Don't save the last column for the earliest era.
Indeed.
It’s slim pickings for the 1920-1940 Mets and hard to reach that 20m minimum.

Also, look at the franchises. Don't be like me and waste time building a team with the Expos only to find out they aren't included.

I was involved in forming, critiquing and approving the themes……and I still miss things a few times.

For instance, I just finished my 110m roster, congratulated myself on the back, and then, when rereading the rules for the umpteenth time, finally noticed the 20m minimum per combintion rule. So a few minutes of cursing at the theme creators….and back to the drawing board.

I strongly encourage everyone to read the rules a few times before building your team and then a couple of times after.
And, if it helps, here are my picks for things that don’t get noticed at first glance:

70m - Clones are allowed. They are not mandatory, likely not an advantage, but are allowed. So if you take the Tigers and want to use Ty Cobb for your 1906-1910, 1911-1915, 1916-1920, 1921-1925, and 1926-1930 player, go ahead.

80m - Ballparks are limited to ones with +2 homers to both fields. Simple enough, but don’t forget almost all of these type of parks have positive park factors and many are extremely offensive. Now, I know most of these owners are much smarter than me at getting the most out of a limited pitching staff at low caps. I’m just saying be careful - no one can hide their pitching staff in Petco.

100m - This one demands many rereads and some experimentation with different teams and I’ve given some pointers on this previously. But, for here, I will remind everyone to remember the ballpark rule - i.e, you have to play in the home park of your chosen team so if you’re building a great twist team based on the powerhouse 2025 Rockies, don’t forget you’re putting that pitching staff in Coors.

110m - Stupid f#%!#ng 20m minimum per
combination rule….Enough said…..these theme creators are sadists……..Oh and there’s a DH (I forgot this one too)

125m - Again - don’t forget the ballpark rule - everyone will be playing in a fairly neutral stadium whatever that means for building.

140m - DH for the 140 round 1 squad - No DH for your Round 2 80m roster. And, fyi, evidently redcped says I can’t use both Albert Pujols and Jack Pfeister even though the P is silent in the latter. Like I said, sadists!
Thank you for this. I also totally forgot the $20M per franchise in the $110M league, and had also patted myself on the back. However, my current split per franchise, in millions, is 31,23,20,19,17, so I still may be able to salvage it without too much damage. The funny thing is that the franchise with 17 (really 16.5) is my Yankees.

I also had COMPLETELY missed that clones are allowed in the $70M league. Thanks again.

Had to go back and make some changes myself because of this.

Same goes for the A to Z league. Spend 20 minutes zeroing on in your perfect rotation only to realize you already used the letter "x".

Now that is a mouthful. Everyone here knows that particular pain.

I have 5 out of my 6 teams formed, but the 110M cap is kicking my butt right now. I also have no clue what to think about my 70M or 80M teams. They can either be genius, but most likely will be middle of the pack

I have one team that is $52 below the cap and another that is $61 below the cap. They may not be good, but at least they're not leaving money on the table!

I think I'm done with all of my teams. Now I know how Alexander the Great felt, except for the conquering part. And the weeping part. And the Great part. So I suppose I really don't know how he felt at all.

Maybe we should introduce a cash efficiency prize?

I’ve long considered something like this but not sure how to make it work. One of the biggest organizational issues we have every year is getting everyone in on time. We give lots of time to build teams, have the rosters entered and checked, and then rejigged if necessary. But there are always a flurry of late and last minute entries that then need to be overhauled to meet the rules and it delays the majority of owners who have built the bulk of their teams for weeks and are chomping at the bit to get the tourney going. WISC has always used the threat of the stick (penalty points) if teams don’t get entered on time but, as we’ve seen, this has its problems and doesn’t always work. Maybe it’s time to consider the carrot instead and work out a system to reward the owners like oldtimer59?
