Mantle just rolled to Season 79, and we are looking for some solid, experienced owners to join us. Mantle is a great, long established world that sims at the top of the hour and has a very small wait time between seasons - we have not had to wait more than a week after a rollover since I've been commissioner and that's something I am committed to keeping going every season I'm in charge.
Mantle has had 8 different champions in the last 8 seasons and no super teams right now. When you join, you can expect short turnarounds between seasons and great competition.
Mantle Private World Rules
Rule #1: We have a minimum win requirement(MWR) of 55/120/185/260. Meaning that you must win a minimum of 55 games each season, or 120 games through 2 seasons, 185 through 3 seasons, or 260 over a four season stretch. Midseason replacement owners are exempt during the season in which they assume control of the franchise. The following season they would be required to meet the world minimum. The penalty for not meeting the MWR is as follows. The first offense will cause your franchise to receive a penalty for the following season. This penalty requires you to set your prospect budget no larger than 8 million for the season and it must remain at 8 million or less for the entire season. If you fail to set your prospect budget at 8 million or below, you will be notified by the commissioner of the violation. You must then transfer enough cash from your prospect budget to get it to the required 8 million or less. Failure to comply to the commissioner’s request within 48 hours of the notice being sent out will be cause for removal from Mantle world. A second violation of the stated MWR will be cause for removal from Mantle world.
*
Rule #2: All franchises are required to maintain healthy pitching staffs and lineups at all levels. If you have multiple minor league pitchers with a zero fatigue within the same level(Rookie-AAA), you will be asked to make corrections. You will be given 1 week to make corrections. If corrections are not made within a week, you will again be reminded of the fatigue issues. If the fatigue issue goes uncorrected for more than 1/3 of the season(54 games), you can be removed from the world. The intention is not to kick out owners over this rule, but to make sure that you keep a properly stocked minor league system and fix issues that come up.
*
Rule #3: The amount of cash received in a trade can not exceed the total amount of salaries being received in that trade at the time in which that trade is scheduled to be completed. If a team is in violation of this rule, then the trade should be vetoed by the other owners of the world and the trade should be resubmitted so that the cash amount is less than the salaries. If the trade goes through and the amount over exceeds $250,000, then the amount over must be returned to the original team by trading a low level player for the cash.

Rule #4: We are all here because we enjoy playing a game. To make sure that Mantle World continues to be a world that owners want to participate in, we will show respect to our fellow owners. There will be no personal attacks in the world chat or any other form of communication between owners. If an owner continues to make comments about another owner or topic within the world after being asked to stop, then that owner shall receive a warning from the commissioner. If the owner continues to make comments to another owner or in world chat about the subject he/she was warned about, they can be removed from the world.
Current Openings
AL East
New York (59-103)
New York is in the middle of a rebuild, but has a good stable of players on the ML roster with some talent in the minors. DH Cesar Alvarez is a career 0.885 OPS hitter and still will be fairly cheap. RF Ricardo Alomar (0.841 OPS last season) is still productive in the COF. SP Charles Lockwood isn't a huge innings eater, but is a solid pitcher who is tough on righties. RP Yangervis Marquez is a great reliever/closer who had 25 saves and a 3.45 ERA last season.
Their prospect pool isn't the deepest, but Season 77 #1 pick Tuck McKain should be a really good leadoff hitter and former #25 overall pick Walt Redman should be a good all around hitter. New York should have the 3rd pick in the draft next season, and they have at least one Type A free agent to add an extra couple of picks with possibly a couple of Type B free agents as well. They also have only $57 million in committed payroll next season, so the next owner can either add free agents or focus on the international free agent market.
AL South
Kansas City (87-75) - Reserved
Kansas City came just short of missing the playoffs last season, and they have built up a good talent pool to compete for the near future. SP Humberto Alvarez (15-8, 3.54 ERA) is still a solid top of the rotation starter with Lisalverto Moreno (16-10, 3.03 ERA) a solid #2. In the bullpen, they have reliable arms in Gerald Pazos (3.52 ERA), Raul Leon (3.64 ERA), and Wilfredo Mejia (career 4.08 ERA). Offensively, they have some good hitters including 1B/DH Ismael Oviedo (career 0.408 OBP) with a 99 eye, C Josh Mitre (0.885 OPS), and all star Daniel Manning who is a good all around offensive and defensive player.
KC had two 1st round picks this past season, #12 pick RF Abdul Bush and #17 pick P Edgmer Roque. Bush in particular has the chance to be solid as he already has great power and is only 20 years old. They only have $58 million in committed contracts for next season, so the next owner can continue to build around the current roster or try and add more prospects.
El Paso (79-83)
Three seasons removed from winning the World Series, El Paso is in need of a tune-up to get back on top. Let's start with their current talent. They have a healthy stable of pitchers including
Francis Hamilton (10-8, 3.60 ERA),
Ivan Sosa (6-9, 3.86 ERA),
Bill Hooper (career 3.36 ERA) and
Alex Donald (3.56 ERA). Offensively, they have an excellent OBP guy in
Hainley Lomasney (career 0.357 OBP), and a Gold Glove catcher who also provides offense in
Abdul Guerrero (0.789 OPS). They had eight (!!) 1st round/supplemental round picks last season, so they were able to add to their minor league system including guys like P
Neil Harvey, SS
Bernie Moreno, and P
Nash Beliveau. Their minors also has a solid hitting prospect in DH
Steven Wilson. They only have about $51 million in committed contracts next season, so there's room to add additional talent to an already decent roster.
NL North
Toledo (100-62)
A fantastic opening from a long tenured owner who decided to step down, Toledo has one of the best rosters in the world, but has come up short in the playoffs. They had the 2nd best ERA last season; they have one of the best pitchers in the world in Willie Iglesias and an excellent #2 SP in Paulie Terry. They also have three solid bullpen arms in Shane Freel and Carlos Pena. Their offense also has some solid pieces including great offensive C Parker Peavy (career 0.939 OPS), a solid all around 2B Yoshinori Johjima (career 0.798 OPS with good defense), and longtime great 3B Michael Abe (0.914 OPS last season). Their prospect pool is obviously lacking for a team that has been a contender for the last few seasons, but they have a few fringe players that could make the ML roster someday. This is a great team for someone who doesn't like rebuilds and wants to win now.
You can relocate these teams wherever you want. Send me a sitemail if interested!
